Looking at the map of potential candidates, UALR doesn't look as far out as I previously thought. Little Rock to Missouri State is around 220 miles.
What are some UNBIASED opinions on UALR? Facilities, crowd support, arena, etc
Arena is 6200ish modeled on Gonzaga's. Baseball facility is not good at all but the AD has secured approval to start fundraising for a new baseball stadium on property the university acquired across the street from campus (old Coleman Dairy property) only thing likely to derail that would be if the very modest calls for adding football were to get traction, then they would have to hold the property to build football practice facilities unless they want to share a field with women's soccer. The women's soccer field is a nice but nothing of note in seating. That's also home to the track, good surface but not capable of hosting a significant event. Swimming and diving which is already in MVC, doesn't have a facility capable of hosting the conference meet. Golf has been able to use Chenal Valley to host (nice) and at times Alotian which is really just a vanity project for the former chairman of Augusta National to have a local course to use. It's seriously world class.
Basketball at one time was "the thing" in Little Rock but they lost two coaches to better pay hired a couple duds and more importantly got caught in the mid-major nightmare. A long extended run by a coach who wasn't good enough to get hired away but not bad enough to get fired until the new AD just gave up on him and pushed him out. Fans need something to energize them again, thought they had it but Beard was one and done as coach.
Women's hoops was down this year but normally very good. Volleyball upper part of Sun Belt pretty consistently.
