MVC targeting Valpo & Murray State to create 11 team league

Coaches don't make the realignment decisions, but they are involved in scheduling. Am guessing the coaches have been given a heads up that Valpo will be joining for the 2017-18 season. (Heavy on the guess)

Second guess is an either or:
1) Murray and one other will join for the 18-19 season. This is most likely
2) Major realignment of the MVC and surrounding leagues with the MVC football and non-football ending up in separate leagues. Might be the best long-term solution.

Projecting that the MVC is somehow playing chess by admitting Valpo now with a plan to add Murray State in a year or two once a strong 12th prospective member emerges (what?) requires a tremendous leap of faith. I peg this outcome's likelihood around 0.5%.

Inertia and a reluctance to further divvy up dwindling revenue will keep the roster at 10 until the next departure.

Sad but probably true. University Presidents are the worst people to be making this decision.

I'll wait for official word to get upset but if true this is a missed opportunity to boost our basketball strength for better seeds and more bids and weaken our peer conferences (OVC, Horizon).

I have no idea if it's the case but if the Dakotas vetoed Murray State over sour grapes then football just became a huge problem in this conference.

Because taking LakesBison word on anything... seriously people, get a grip. Lake's says the MVFC didnt' want UND. Who got voted in? UND, and in a statement it was admitted that the MVC schools didn't care, NDSU, SDSU and USD wanted UND thus UND were a unanimous vote. Does that fit the Lake's narrative you are taking as gospel? If so, grow up.

If your conference only takes one, and you want to blame the "Dakotas", feel free to do so if it helps you get through the night. Keep pretending that the MVC leadership isn't what it is. A group of small private schools who don't want to improve along with a few public schools who have money issues and a couple other public who are frustrated. The "Dakota" schools are not blocking Murray State. Our administration's are not a group of fan boys on the internet acting tough. They are grownups who have an excellent working relationship with the MVC schools we play FB with. Administrators of schools who have built strong programs, in all sports in a very short period of time. They didn't do so by being petulant children.

We've got to something. An idiot could see that Murray State and Valparaiso are obvious choices. If one or the other gets left out then the MVC and the university presidents have completely failed at their jobs.

I personally like UWM too, but if they got left out it would be acceptable and I would totally understand that decision. Leaving out either Murray State or Valpo is just outrageous though.

EDIT: I'm an Indiana State fan and I am almost 100% positive that INST supports adding both universities to the conference. I think the private schools are the issue tbh. The publics need to step up and say "Look you only get Valpo if we get Murray or else we're staying at 9".

All I know is, there is no athletic product without the fans and supporters of the programs. We at Murray have a great relationship with out president and our AD. They interact with fans every day. When you see them coming out as they have for this move, its because the fans and supporters want it.
