That would be a stark difference from the lies that are repeated regularly to the contrary.

It's a lot more fun to incorrectly characterize it as a daddy warbucks relationship, though, and I get that. The redbird fan above already stated he does not care about facts, evidence or the truth with regard to how he views the financial backing of WSU.

Show me evidence Kochs only forked over roughly 5% of his increased salary after Alabama. You guys talk like they did nothing, we talk like they did. Nobody has shown factual evidence of how much was contributed. Regardless, this should not be an argument, but Wichita fans seem butt hurt that we would even THINK WSU's billionaire alums are helping fund Marshall's latest salary bump.

God forbid.

If ISUr had a big sugar daddy like that, I would not be so defensive about it.

He was paying none of the roughly $2 million Gregg was making before those meetings. The reported facts state that he helped organize a meeting of major donors where the hat was passed among more than a dozen leading backers at a local country club, and the extra $1.3 million was aggregated for Gregg's raise. My understanding is that each participant contributed substantially.

Let's attribute an outsize role to Charles and say he contributed double his share. That would be roughly $250,000 of the $3,300,000, or ~7.5%. Still a paltry sum on a relative basis when the base argument disputed here is that WSU's budget evaporates without the Kochs.

Why don't you show me your evidence to the contrary? If you want to try to tack on an extra, what, $100k, $200k or even $300k (again, no support for this but why not), that still does nothing to change the argument and the result.

There really is no disagreement that he is a wonderful asset to have and has chipped in at important times. I challenged your peer on his bold lie, which he has since doubled down on above. I bet the disagreement would ensue less frequently if you would do us the pleasure of straightening him out.

That's on top of a 6 million gift for stadium naming rights and 11.25 gift to the university which a lot went towards athletics. Right there you're already talking north of $20-million Koch has given wsu.

The $4.5 million portion attributable to athletics went entirely to Koch Arena renovations and expanding the Student Athlete Success Center.

Sorry bub, no additional salary kick there.

Evidence is available on P. 173 of the Factbook available here: http://goshockers.com/sports/2015/11/12 ... path=m_bkb

The institutional support necessary to have a large budget does not require massive leaps of faith when assessed in the context of this attendance (which, for decades, has generally required mandatory SASO contributions, which are astronomical when we are good, just for the right to buy season tickets) and support.

Charles is a nice ace in the hole but he has been rarely tapped and was completely invisible until Jim Schaus and Mark Turgeon came on the scene. Since then, his cameos, while greatly appreciated, still make up a miniscule percentage of WSU's support.

That's great and all, but still does not supply any knowledge, evidence or facts on how much he contributed towards Gregg Marshall's salary.

Per your most recent posts....I have no evidence other than articles stating he led the charge. You have no evidence and are just assuming he supplied a certain amount (again with no evidence of just HOW MUCH). You are guessing. We are guessing

At the end of the day, WSU has a bigger booster backing than all other MVC schools other than maybe Bradley and their basketball budgets were way larger than all other MVC schools. They rightfully left this conference to schools with larger basketball budgets as well.

Time to stop conversing with the past and join the AAC message board and converse with your future.

How do Wichita fans live knowing they are associated with a company that is a world leader in pollution?

out of the REPORTED $20-million Koch has given, $12-million has been earmarked for athletics. that's 60%. Also, the article states him and boosters are giving over 1.3 million per year to marshall. and probably at least 500K is directly from Koch.

But. who cares if its directly from Koch to marshall or from Koch to WSU to marshall? its STILL from Koch. Semantics

Why are the WSU fans so defensive about the fact that the Koch $ has and does play an important role in their success. Could it be that they are afraid someone will suggest that they would just be another mid-major team that play(ed) in the MVC? Keep on deflecting and backing up you Crawdad Shocker fans.

Here's to hoping to the American falling apart - looking forward to Cincy and Houston moving on to a P5 conference and UConn going to the Big East.

What's that leave ECU, Memphis, SMU, Temple, Tulane, Tulsa, UCF and USF.

its going to be hilarious when that happens. Wichita will be in only a slightly better situation than they were last season. That conference is going to get raided and take a dive.
