UNI will then score 40+ points in the second half to pull away for the win (or hit a shot with less than 20 seconds left for the win after CU goes on another stretch of scoring 2 baskets in the last 6 minutes ofthe game). One thing you can count on with CU this year - no matter who we play it will be entertaining.

That's UNI's MO this year...you can't do that, we do.

I'm pretty sure a CU fan posted it first, therefore we got dibbs...sorry!!!

I like UNI's chances in this game. Our guards have been playing really well lately and our whole team seems to be gelling offensively. Should be a sell out crowd. Loser of this game gives up any hopes of the shot at the title.

You can listen to some UNI/Cu talk by going to bluejaybanter.com and listen to the podcast of our show yesterday. We have Coach Jacobson on and discuss the game.
Funny.....another WSU fan just has to chime in on a Creighton thread with a dig. Give it up guys...we all know your obsession with Creighton.

See you in St. Louie......

Uh in case you didn't notice, everybody from anywhere pretty much comments on every thread. That's why they call it a "message board".

I dunno why the obsession comment was madewhen it was a general comment about both teams. I certainly won't be "whiting out" for the CU game.

Um...thanks for the lession on how a message board is suppose to work...didn't know that. But if your comment had any value at all THEN you would be properly using this message board. And just for the record, I think all "white outs" "blue outs" or yellow outs" are a joke.

"I mean, I had to do what was best for myself and my family," Doug noted. "It would've been tough on me, having to play my dad twice (per year)."

Said Greg McDermott: "I think anybody that doesn't understand the reason (Doug) did what he did doesn't have a clue. Obviously, he had an opportunity to play for his dad in the league he committed to."

Not exactly words of contrition from the McDermotts to the UNI faithful. So playing against Dad one per year is fine, twice would have been tough on the poor fella. And Greg, you don't commit to a league, you commit to a program.

Don't insult our intelligence, we know why this all went down the way it did. A simple statement like, "the timing of my move to Creighton and Doug following put UNI's program in a difficult situation. We're sorry to our friends in Cedar Falls for that, and wish it could have been handled differently." The hard-core fans are never going to forgive, but a statement like that would go a long way toward smoothing things over with the more open minded fans like myself.

Actually, I think it is pretty lame.

I did get a kick out of the nickname "McDecommit" though.

Mac had some pretty nice things to say about Cedar Falls, UNI and Jake in the Omaha paper today.

You can nitpick the quote above all you want, but I truly believe that Big Mac didn't think his son would be able to play regularly at the BCS level, especially right away. The fact that Mac wanted to redshirt his son this season at Creighton only reinforces that belief. Before the season, Big Mac told me that he had some concerns about Doug's strength and foot speed. The fact that he underestimated his son's abilities are great for us now, but I never got the impression that Mac was slow-playing his son's talent levels. The "league" comments are relevant in that context.

As to him trying to protect his son in the media, what do you expect? Of course he is going to take up for his son. The only people that wouldn't expect him to do so do not have children of their own. You can't explain parenthood and the corresponding bond to people without children. I know my whole outlook changed when I started having children of my own.

We are truly lucky to have lil Mac (who I have donned "the Quarter Pounder" since his dad is "Big Mac") and I believe he is playing at an all conference level. However, if you go back and look at my posts before the season started, I thought he'd have a hard time finding playing time. The injuries to Casey Harriman and Ethan Wragge opened the door and Doug has taken full advantage of the opportunity.

I think it is classless. Some of these panthernation folks would go insane if someone was doing this to their 18 year old kid. I'm just afraid of what he will encounter tonight. I remember the story of Steve Kerr when he was a frosh at Arizona and they were visiting Arizona State his freshman year. For some of the older people out there you will remember that his father was killed in the bombing in Beirut and this was just a few months later. Anyhow, the ASU fans started chanting "Hey Steve, where's your dad?" during the shootaround and he heard it. I can't imagine what it would be like to hear your peers and older people that should have better sense yelling that at a kid. I took a scan of some thoughts on the panthernation website and was just appalled. Hopefully that is just a small segment of the fanbase, I know Terry Allen thinks that UNI has tremendous fans.
