Arch Madness Tickets

Any word on how sales look? I first thought sales might be weak this year but the teams at the top have nice followings and the Illinois (SIU, BU, ISU) people are used to going every year so?????

If I remember correctly, cpacmel always gets hard numbers for all-session sales for every Valley school usually every year. I bet he could shed some light on the subject.

I think our gameplan this year is to bypass the all-session tickets and just purchase single session of the Jays games from the fine gentlemen that are just outside the arena. I assume that I can get them at decent prices just before tipoff. The heydey of 2007 where the semis and finals were close to sellouts are long gone I'm afraid, so this plan seems logical to me. Anyone have experience doing this?? If so how did it go?

Works great (except 2007) if you know what you are buying.

Last year I got free tickets to Thurs from someone who wasn't going. After the first game I went outside the SIU sections and kept asking if anyone wanted to sell their all session passes. Bought one for $30 and sat wherever I wanted all weekend.

Just be careful to know where sections are located in the arena. I bought outside once, and even though the upstanding young citizen assured me the seats were lower bowl - they were not. In fact, they were way up in the corner. Wasn't a big deal, however, because we just found empty seats in the lower bowl. Never got asked to move.

Main drawback is you won't be in your team's meaint seating area if you care about that. It is difficult to find empty seats in your fan base seating area - except when your team is not playing.

I remember many years ago, some of the schools that had not sold their alotment had tables out front selling single game tickets from their allotment. Good seats at face value. Don't know if any still do that.

Keep in mind this year that with WSU and MSU having good years, the attendance may be up. Probably not at the level of 4 to 5 years ago when the SIU fans overran St. Louis, but I think it will exceed the last few years. CU fan attendance will probably be up some, especially if CU goes 7-2 or 8-1 over the second half of the season.

The fact that the section number was in the 300's wasn't a giveaway?

Yeah figured I would have to do some investigated work on the tickets they offer. I don't blame them for trying though. Hey people have mouths to feed in East St Louis too!!!
