Updated 1/6/18: MVC Expansion Poll

Article: http://www.valleyhoopsinsider.com/whats ... expansion/

Note: Votes can be changed later.

My vote was Murray State (obviously) and South Dakota State. If SDSU wasn't willing to join because they didn't want to leave the other "Dakota" schools behind then Northern Kentucky would get my #12 vote.

What did NKU do to deserve your 12th vote ;)

The tournament thing (as well as proximity to St Louis ) are big reasons why I think Oakland is out as well. I know they haven't had much success so far in their nearby conference tournament, but I still don't think they're going to leave it behind.

I do want to vote for Belmont but I've resolved to vote only for schools I'm sure would accept. Murray State and NKU for me.

Murray State and NKU for this old guy. I’d really like Belmont, but at some point, you tell the hot chick to screw off after she turns you down over and over.

MSU is obvious, and I’ve warmed to NKU’s commitment and potential. They would have to supply some guarantees on future commitment though, in my mind.

I’d be ok with Milwaukee, too, in that 12th spot. I’d also be ok with going to 14 by adding the XDSU’s.

I’m pretty open on all this, for the right schools.

I wish nobody was an option. I just don't buy the more teams equals more bids. If you are a P6 conference it does, for us it just means diluting the revenue from our one and rarely two bids.

Our conference gets x dollars for each NCAA game we are in. We can split the money 10 ways or 12 ways. I know my chioce. Do we really think adding Northern Kentucky will get us an extra bid? Murray State may get us an extra chance, but anyone else is just watering down the payout. 11 teams, Murray St ONLY!

My opinion is take Murray State and stay @ 11. It helps in scheduling and doesn't create divisions. Saw this before i posted about the money. It would be split 13 ways if a 12th school is added. Winners of the money get double shares

You guys are missing something. It isn’t only about bids. It’s about seeding. The swac gets a bid, but it is usually a 16. If your conference, by virtue of being perceived as a better conference and therefor the winner as a better team, gets a better seed, there is more chance of a favorable matchup in the tournament. The money in the tournament isn’t in bids, it’s in wins, because the money goes up with every round. The chances of winning go up with the better seed, and therefore the money goes up with the perception of the conference. Adding highly respected and nationally competitive teams to your conference, done correctly, makes more money per school despite the need to divide by more teams.

11 teams is an awful idea. That's why no one is talking about it. Scheduling alone is a nightmare.
