When you haven't beat a team in conference, I think you thank the people still coming to the games, not rip them.

Amen. When UE was drawing a little more than four thousand last year, mostly the quieter older variety of fan, Marty was still harping on how we had the best fans in the world.

Take, for example, the WSU win. There weren't even 4000 people there. I was among those who stayed home. But still no one was critical of the fans.

And the crowd was back up for the final two home games in 2009-2010. Believe it or not.

At the last home game of each season, the seniors take time to address the fans that remain after the game is over and always talk about what fans UE has. It's a shame the seniors of the past several years haven't seen the larger crowds we used to get, but they still honor the fans. I for one, honor the student-athletes we get at UE. They are in a class of their own. Outside of a few bad apples, I'm proud of every one that has attended the University. They have represented the University and community well and they deserve a hand!

I mean, I get why he'd say it. Fans who don't have the commitment of the players can be really be annoying. But just because you CAN say something doesn't mean that you SHOULD. This will not end well.
