Coach of the Year?

Postby goodolemvc » January 31st, 2011, 9:06 pm

I hate the motion offense simmons runs at UE but this team he has is AWFUL! and to be 6-5 in a decent mvc is deserving in my oppinion. If UE is 11-7 which is very realistic if you look at their schedule there is no doubt in my mind he will be coach of the year...any thoughts?

Two horse race between Simmons and Lansing, depending on how well or poorly the two teams do the remainder of the season. Lansing would have won it hands-down a couple of weeks ago, but Simmons is coming on strong.

I don't know about a two horse race. Whoever wins the conference will be in the running, and what UNI has done with what they lost is pretty impressive.

Not a knock UNI but the were picked 3rd they are 3rd I would say the winner of the conference gets the nod.

Agreed, the conference winner will likely get it this year.

if UE finishes fourth or higher he has to doesn't he? i mean they were predicted 10th...and i thought they would never win 4 mvc games this year. He has 2 of the worst post players in the confrence a shooter who shoots 20 times a game to score his 15 points...and a starting point guard who is can barely move and still they are 6-5. Unless the winner of the confrence goes 15-3 or 16-2 which may happen, I think Marty may get the award. By the way nice to see him fit on one chair this year!

If they finish 4th Marty will be getting a ton of votes, no doubt.

Do you have anything good to say about our players? Have you ever tried the half-full glass approach, or is everything negative?

Hopf is recovering from a major injury, and in my opinion, looks pretty good as he plays for 15-18 minutes a game. He works hard for positioning, has good footwork, and finishes well around the rim.

Pieter grew up as an European style player and has had to learn to play around the post. He is tall, lacks strength, but has developed over time to be a battler.

Lacey is a Combo Guard who has been told to play Point Guard. Do you understand the mental transition that it takes to play the Point when one does not have the natural quickeness required to penetrate and dish or guard the opposing team's PG? God bless him for doing what he does for us.

It is so easy to sit at the bar, drown some beers and find fault with individual players.

Ben Jacobson, already drawing national attention again. I think the Bracketbuster attention actually benefits BJ and UNI. This guy does the job and does it very well, and knows how to win.
