1. vs Florida Gulf Coast Eagles on November 6th
2. Thought to be @ Baylor Bears
3. Thought to be vs Chicago State Cougars
4. MTE Georgia Bulldogs
5a.MTE Clemson Tigers/Akron Zips
5b. MTE (Hopefully Creighton Bluejays)
6.Thought to be vs Arkansas-Pine Bluff
7. vs Brigham Young Cougars
8. vs San Diego State Aztecs
9. @UIC
10. vs Ole Miss Landsharks
11. Unknown
12. @ Central Florida Golden Knights
VCU fell through.
I renumbered these for you to go with the tweet ISU posted last night.
The schedule is really good. That second game is more likely a H/H with Belmont than Baylor.
Chicago State was probably to fill the roster/give the team a break before headed into the really, really tough MTE in Cayman (Georgia, Akron/Clemson, and hopefully a matchup with Creighton).
#6 Could also be Hofstra. Former Redbird/Pride F Zeke Upshaw passed away this spring in a G-League Game. Could be a memorial situation.
#11 could be U of Illinois-Springfield because we don't have our annual D2 game on there. Could also be Norfolk State.
Overall, I'm happy with the schedule. ILST has come a LONG way since its days of Jank scheduling a Global Sports Round Ball Classic with the likes Winston Salem State, Nichols, and UCSB.
I know every game can't be great, but Chicago State, UIS/Norfolk is weak. I understand having some of these confidence building teams though. Despite having everyone back, we have a few key guys coming in expected to be key contributors and could these games could help them with their confidence. This Redbird team will be ready for the MVC season. I'd like the Redbirds 1st game of the conference season to be @Loyola. The last game of the MVC season: Loyola @ Redbird. that would be fun.
