Volleyball: 5 Valley Teams Earn Postseason Bids

The MVC continued to be a multibid league in Volleyball with UNI and Illinois State receiving invites to the NCAA Tournament. UNI will play Pepperdine and Illinois State will play Cincinnati.

Adding to the Valleys joy that night 3 teams were selected to participate in the NIVC (equivalent to the NIT in basketball ) Bradley Drake and Valpo will all take part in this year's tournament. Bradley and Drake will both take part in the Ames regional hosted by Iowa State. Bradley will play the BGSU Falcons of the MAC while Drake will take on the host Cyclones. Valpo will face Ball State in the Oxford Regional hosted by Miami(OH). Should they triumph over the Cardinals the Crusaders would await the winner of the match between Miami(OH) and Valpo's old HL foe Northern Kentucky.

A just reward for a terrific season of MVC Volleyball. Best of luck to all MVC Postseason participants!

NCAA Tournament Update:

UNI's furious rally from down 2 sets falls just short as the Panthers drop a heartbreaking 5 set decision to Pepperdine

Illinois State fell in 3 sets to Cincinnati but were competitive in each setlosing 19-25 22-25 22-25. The Redbirds hit an impressive .351 but were bested by the Bearcats' blistering .457 mark

NIVC Update:

Drake ran into a buzz saw in site host Iowa State who honestly look like the best team in this tournament. The Bulldogs fell 16-25 25-27 22-25 in Ames.

Making the trip alongside Drake was Bradley who won a 5 set thriller over Bowling Green Thursday night before succumbing to the Cyclones as well in 3 sets The Braves put up a spirited effort but the talented Big XII side proved to be too much for Bradley as the home team prevailed 25-22 25-19 25-13

Valparaiso found more success in its regional downing a pair of MAC schools including the homestanding Redhawks of Miami (OH). Valpo first defeated Ball State 3-1 on Thursday night before sweeping the regional final 3-0. Valpo now travels to Tulane which defeated Arkansas State and Cal Baptist in its regional. The quarterfinal match will be played December 6 at 7PM ET for the right to face the winner of Clemson and College of Charleston in the NIVC Final 4
