NMSU drew 12k last night. They have a great AD.

Dan Muller isn't going anywhere. Come on ISU fans. Get a grip.

The loudest people are often ones who appear to be in the majority. I would suggest most Redbird fans are fine with what Muller has done, but are starting to see some slippage. This season had a lot of hype because of all the returners, and how they were playing their best basketball down the stretch last year. Redbird fans anticipated a step forward from all four seniors, instead, got regression from two, and one is complacent. Fayne has upped his game this year, but still had some tough times. There was a time this summer where Muller believed he would have available Swedish PG, Elijah Clarance, who went pro after the FIBA U20, Taylor Bruninga, who is sidelined with injuries, and Keith Fisher was going through the NCAA appeal process to be immediately eligible. Instead, the team is left with six scholarship players and a bench full of next season's team. The next time you watch an ISUr game, look at the ISU bench at just the number of players in red sweat suits. There are more of those than there are available players. Muller has set himself up to not have to do a full rebuild next year, and will have a team that has experience together, just not in game action. This was the year where it could have been easy to win the MVC but it has just been a grinder. We'll see what happens. I feel like the Redbirds could make it to Sunday, as history shows, I also feel they can lose Thursday.

Another Redbird fan put it well. There is no chance Muller gets bought out. This athletic administration allowed Barb Smith to run the WBB program into the ground for years with a much lower buy-out.

The obvious candidate to replace Hinson is sitting on the Loyola bench. Just my gut feeling but I don't think Hinson will get fired in the offseason because AD will want to keep SIU's big recruiting class intact without departures. Also the SIU admin has budget problems. But the obvious candidate is Mullins. He's a up and comer and a legendary alum. Also SIU would get to tap into the Illinois Wolves AAU talent pipeline that Loyola has been enjoying because Mullins' dad owns and coaches the AAU program (3 of LU's incoming recruits are ILN wolves). Loyola would probably promote Mamon who is one of their CPL/Meanstreets top recruiter.

Dan Muller isn't going anywhere. I know ISUr fans are frustrated but he's not a bad coach and he can recruit.

I'm not sure how much MVC Fans are paying attention to Valpo fans, but there is a growing crowd that is calling for Matt Lottich's job. Fans are pretty pissed off with the slide in the standings. Like ISUr fans, Matt Lottich isn't going anywhere. As frustrating as it's been the last few years, Lottich has a legit "excuse" with his team being ravaged by injuries. He can recruit and coach defense but there are growing concerns if he can figure out the offense. He's a young and bright HC but the fan-base's patience is growing thin. If next years team isn't at the top of the Valley or if the team isn't vastly improved there will be a angry mob in Valparaiso. I'm encouraged about our future potential but the last 8 games have been tough to watch.

HINSON had nothing to do with next year's recruiting class, his assistants do the work there. His buyout will not come from the athletic department budget. Mullins will most likely be on the list of candidates, not sure if he's still interested after what happened last March. We shall see what happens, but a change in direction is certainly needed.

Steve Alford is out there. He's a trash human being but would have to at least be a phone call for SIU and Indiana State.

BEARZ77 wrote:Muller made his mistake by accommodating Yarborough imho; I've always thought they had enough talent w/o him to challenge if they had built the team that way. You can't have MY in and out of the doghouse , yet build the offense around him like Dan did, and expect the kind of consistency needed to win a league title. Of course we all know they could easily jell for 3-4 days yet.

I think Dan will be back, and it will be an important year for him. But anyone seeing gloom and doom i think is short sighted. He has some solid talent back, gets rid of distractions, and oh yeah, has 3 players who have all been practicing this year and who all were double digit scorers in D-1 basketball the previous year. Illinois State will still have one of the top 3-4 rosters in the league going into next year. It'll be interesting what Muller can do w/o the distractions, or does his culture there just create new ones, but the talent will be available again.

100% spot on assessment BEARZ77! Muller isn't going anywhere because of a number of factors
but he needs to learn from his mistakes with Yarborough. I agree that MY poisoned the team
dynamic this year. Luckily Muller has almost a complete team in Red warm-ups that should give
him a positive reset next year.

Agreed, Dan isn't going anywhere. Next year should be make or break for him....although, I have a hard time buying him getting fired anytime soon. Lyons won't do anything about it (Realistically, we should do something about Lyons too at this point).

What is really bittersweet, seeing Dana Ford have so much success at Missouri State. Happy for Dana, because he is a great guy. Disappointed to really look at the Muller Vs Ford dynamic and realize that we missed out on the better coach. As an ISU fan that doesn't have much to cheer for at this point, I hope he gets it done for the Bears.

First of all... Hinson is getting fired... Second, I would place a sizable bet that the replacement played for SIU, wore number 10 and was a nightmare to bring the ball up the court against. Hinson is gone and if Mullins wants it, he will be the coach. Book it.
