Why? To placate Missouri State or because that's the best school we can get now... At least they appear to be moving in the right direction.

TheAsianSensation wrote:Don't get me wrong, I love Belmont being in.

But the only reason they're in is because this time they picked up a couple Q1/Q2 wins. Which was a direct byproduct of their rival team becoming an all-time outlier in the computer rankings.

Make no mistake, Belmont is in because Lipscomb luckboxed. This at-large bid situation isn't repeatable.

I hope you're right and that the Murray to MVC dream isn't dead but I don't think Lipscomb is going away anytime soon and what happened today is just enough cover for a university president to justifiably say we don't need the MVC and not be challenged.

There goes that argument.

There is absolutely ZERO need to slice the pie any further.

The flipping OVC went beyond 10 to add someone who betters their league. They just increased their pie today. They’ll end up 2x or 3x richer than us this year.

But at least we all get a 1 in 10 share and preserved our glorious round robin which hasn't produced a single at large bid since 2016.

Or Valpo could actually do something like build a new arena that doesn't look like a high school gym.

That would be nice, but it wouldn't change their results.

A high school gym with Sweet 16 and NIT runner-up banners. More than either of your schools can say.

Or mine in the last 40 years.

Or you could make a tournament sometime this millennium but I guess we all can't have what we want can we?

I've addressed in post after post that Valpo needs to stop sucking and the facilities are crap. I don't need reminded. I also don't make decisions for the university so I can't really do much about it.

I think you're confused because I wasn't knocking them.

Ill say this much about Missouri State though: they look like they're actively working to fix their issues which is more than I can say about my school.

I was looking at some of the results from the MVC Championships of a number of sports today, and it seems like Valpo isn't real strong in anything.

Really feels like Murray was the better choice. And I really don't mean to put down Valpo with that, as I do think they're a good fit overall and will grow into the Valley. But head-to-head Murray has them beat in just about every way. Facilities, fan-support, consistent on-court success.

That said, I am pretty sure I said the same thing about Loyola a few years ago. Too early to judge.

I just wish we'd be more proactive and take advantage of opportunities when they come.
