Even if the timing would work out I’m not sure Bryce could go home again. The exit was odd and awkward and I get the impression there was some hard feelings from both sides. Maybe all could be forgiven given the length of the relationship but who knows?
Should Lottich not improve the outlook of this team significantly this season, I believe there will be a change.
Losing Smits hurts, especially from the offensive end. Nobody ever won a game 0-0. While Valpo had many issues, scoring was certainly one of them and part of that scoring just walked out the door.

The 7-foot-1 center announced his intentions to declare for the NBA Draft on Monday
“Nothing negative can come out of (declaring for the draft) with the way the rules are today,” Smits said. “In terms of transferring, thought it would be best for my future to go elsewhere; hopefully play better competition.”
“My phone has been going crazy,” Derrik Smits said. “Had four schools already talk to us (Derrik and Rik Smits) and it just started an hour ago.”

That's a huge blow to their team.
