Great post. I feel the same way. There are speculative whispers that we will start to address facilities in earnest after we finish an endowment drive that is almost done. Nothing concrete yet but We can only hope that's true. Not being proactive on Murray State bothers me and should bother every MVC fan. I just hope they'll still come if we ask.

I was looking at some of the results from the MVC Championships of a number of sports today, and it seems like Valpo isn't real strong in anything.

Really feels like Murray was the better choice. And I really don't mean to put down Valpo with that, as I do think they're a good fit overall and will grow into the Valley. But head-to-head Murray has them beat in just about every way. Facilities, fan-support, consistent on-court success.

That said, I am pretty sure I said the same thing about Loyola a few years ago. Too early to judge.

I just wish we'd be more proactive and take advantage of opportunities when they come.

Valpo is the better add academically and is in a better physical location. Murray State is no doubt a better/more consistent basketball team.

We will never be proactive with Doug Elgin at the helm. The schools don't want it either.

They don't want Murray State because they know Murray State would crush it here. Think of them as a smaller less poachable Wichita State with nicer fans. I can understand why you would and would not want them though the reasons not to want them are utterly cowardly.

The non-football schools were never going to allow a football school to take a non-football school's place (Non-schollie doesn't count).

This is the same reason that we're not going to 12. They can't find a suitable non-football to pair with Murray. Remember, suitable to the privates means PRIVATE, therefore eliminating NKU. Belmont would probably be acceptable BUT I worry that they're going to look at a music based Christian school and get cold feet.

I was surprised they let a private take a public's place when we added Valpo. I thought that was where the division was. Why are these types of things so important? Are there huge league issues that are divided among football/non-football and public/private lines that are hanging in the balance?

I'm curious at exactly what "not that honest" means. What are you alleging exactly?

As an ex Valpo fan I am officially jumping ship to the Belmont Bruins and OVC!

Even with a hobbled Muzynski the Bruins with an 81-70 win over Temple.

I understand the sentiment and the frustration. I certainly feel it but that's too far. One thing's for sure Belmont's victory gives Murray State even less reason to leave.
