He needs the gun to be able to aid his fellow Iowans in case of a hostile takeover by the government.

Or maybe cuz the league makes him go to Illinois several times a year.

Good point. Guns keep us safer. This has been proven exactly zero times.

I am confident that most of the people who think Tremell should be harshly punished for this would have a totally different view if this was some farm boy from Grundy Center who accidentally injured someone with an accidentally fired gun.

Where has anyone on this thread said Tremell Murphy should be "harshly punished?"

If said farm boy from Grundy Center was on the Drake basketball team and shot another student in the head at Drake off campus housing I'm quite certain the thoughts would be the same from everyone. It was good you got "accidentally" in there twice though.

Is maybe a 1-2 game suspension considered "harshly punished" in your world? It's not in mine.

I like to think that i would judge someone like say...Spencer Haldeman just as harshly if he was in the exact same situation. Not knowing any of the specifics...dude, you shot someone in the head with a gun. Intent or not, whatever your reasons are (excluding self defense, and even that still would beg lots of questions to be answered), this isn't a good look.

I see both sides on this one. If this had been a hunting accident, and the player who fired the gun initially lied about it, I think it would still be punishable. How many games? I'm not sure.

This doesn't even disqualify him from being Vice President.

Tremell has already had his day in court, where he pled guilty to two simple misdemeanors and was given probation and a fine. Still waiting to see what Drake's punishment for him will be.

From another thread...

Any word on Tremell for playing this year? (On this topic, I think the MVC should mandate that if a player does something that results in game-suspension, then the player should sit out MVC games.)

That would be a very odd rule. why would you want someone to sit out conference games? Just to increase your chance for a victory?

Because it is a rule that would benefit the conference and would not hurt the team.

We should all want EVERY MVC team to do as well as possible in the OOC season.
