Listened to the latest. I would add that Drake is losing a key contributor in Brady Ellingson. KenPom has him at #18 in the nation (all D-1 players) for eFG%. Offensive efficiency ratings like this are so much more important that points scored.
Brady took 18% of Drake's shots. Statistically, they will lose about 5 points per game by losing his shots, assuming that the rest of the team has it’s same eFG% and that they take his shots, which are fair assumptions.
In the valley, Brady was #1 in eGF% and Nick McGlynn was #5.

More likely is that those shots will be taken by someone who shoots 3s well. It seems like you would have to compare his field goal percentage with the number of shots taken, and the field goal percentage of whoever takes those shots instead. It is also possible that those shots won't be taken at all and instead will be taken from another position altogether. I don't think there is any way to conclude Drake loses 5ppg. Maybe they lose, maybe they gain.

Sure. But the other players play in the same system - some of them in the same position in the same system. One would assume they were trying their best to make their shots. But they did not make them as efficiently as Brady did.
As I said, Brady took 18% of Drake's shots, which is a pretty large %. So hopefully others will take his shots - hopefully the team won't just turn it over more!

As Yogi Berra once said, "It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future." But I think that it's a safe prediction to assume that the new shooters who take his shots shoot at the same eFG% as the rest of the team. That would give the 5 pts/game loss.

Nonsense. The team shooting percentage includes guys who come off the bench in garbage time, guys that are only playing because everybody else on the roster is injured and bad shooters. I assume that in the same offense the player who would get Brady's shots would be a GOOD shooter.

Not sure where the 18% came from....I just looked at last season's stats, and Brady took 14% of the team shots.
