That would be coming from the CU Rivals sports writer chat.

(except for soccer, in which the CU AD is already on the record regarding potentially leaving the MVC for that sport only....)

Hopefully that happens. Once that precedent is set then maybe WSU baseball will actually look at opportunities to move baseball. This question was broached once before under the former WSU AD and he said the conference would never let WSU take baseball out of the conference and remain in the conference for others.

Well newspaper writers do these things nowadays called "online chats" where they communicate directly with readers. Suellentrop does them too. I would have suspected that a computer guy like you would be familiar with the technology.

How it went down was someone simply asked Pivovar whether he thought the conference would have any coaching turnover after this season. A rather innocuous question that didn't single out your boy. Pivovar answered the question by discussing how Marshall is actively lobbying for the Tennessee job. He didn't write a column about it or even mention it in any pieces that he has written. No malice, no evil intent, no vast anti-Marshall conspiracy; just a simple response to a simple online chat question. You can remove the tin foil hat now.

This is nothing but poppycock! Sure, Marshall's agent might be lobbying him for the job (they do this all the time to put more money into their pockets); however I'll guarantee you coach Marshall isn't out “openly” lobbying for the Tennessee job. How do I know this? Trust me, I just do. ;)

If offered, would Marshall consider the Tennessee job? Heck yes, he’d be a fool not to interview and give it serious consideration. Again, it’s more likely his agent has thrown his name out for consideration to test the waters. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, that’s the job of a sports agent. Many of them are greedy and cold blooded sob’s… they have no loyalties to the institution where their client is currently coaching.

It would appear the truth is some where in the middle here. If his agent is lobbying, he isn't 100% ready to stay where he is now. Remember at CU we had a coach that said he would end his coaching career at Creighton. We upped his salary, we had special meetings to get more cash, he told all of us he was staying, and he then left in the middle of the night out of Lincoln. Coaches aren't much better than their agents. I don't know anything about the coaching deal at WSU, but from what I am reading he's looking and if he sees what he likes, he's gone. I don't see it, I would think he needs a Turgeon like run to impress the BCSers.

Agents work for their clients. If his agent is lobbying for a new job, it's because Marshall told him it's okay to do so.

If Marshall was "openly" lobbying for the job, how come none of us down here know about it? How come the only people know about it are the Omaha media? (And I use the term media loosely).

It's just ironic that "Piv" would have an identical response to what was in the professional "Chat with Matt', which occurred a day earlier. Kinda ironic, isn't it?

I can see why the Omahahans are anxiously awaiting information about Marshall. It appears he has turned a corner against their basketball team.

If his agent is soliciting for jobs without his client's permission, he is committing malpractice and would lose his ability to act as an agent for others in the future.

Rest assured of one thing: if Marshall's agent is trying to get him the Tennessee job, Marshall both knows about it and has given his blessing.
