MVC

69 Mo. St
108 Loyola
131 N. Iowa
133 Bradley
153 Drake
174 ISUb
192 ISUr
218 Eville
233 Valpo
254 SIU

The short story-

Racers are 151, second in OVC behind Belmont at 118. The OVC average is 246.7 (for reference, the MVC is 153.4, and 7 of the OVC's 12 teams are ranked lower than the lowest MVC team)

The Gulf Coast Showcase should have the Racers see 3 teams with an average ranking of 154.3. OOC schedule for the Racers sees Tennessee at 41, Missouri St at 69, Evansville at 218, SIU at 254, MTSU at 247, Southern at 308, and Kennesaw St at 315. That means an OOC average of 163.7.

118 Belmont
151 Murray State
169 peay
210 UTM
234 JSU
-------------- (the lowest MVC team would fall here)
255 head
258 TSU
279 EIU
303 eku
311 SEMO
330 tech
342 (out of 353) siue

Be careful. A lot of posters on here got their feelings hurt when I included OVC schools in my personal poll.

The top of the MVC should be stronger than the top of the OVC this season but you never know. APSU has the best player this year and I expect JSU to reload. UTM is also a dark horse imo. It will be a fun year in both leagues. I will be very surprised if either conference gets an at-large though. Either way I think both conferences will be in the 12 seed range come selection Sunday.

Some of their rankings are horrible. I don't think I trust this list.

It is likely very, very difficult to actually rank literally every single DI basketball program, considering evaluating talent levels across conferences is not a simple task. Then add in the fact that it's impossible for any one person to actually have watched every single team play last season, much less have watched every team enough times to have a representative idea of that team's talent level.

This isn't a ranking that is meant to be taken as absolute truth. Never has been. But it's a good preseason measuring stick to see where your team is thought to match up across the national landscape, whether it ends up being accurate or not.

One example is how high Northern Illinois is. Their best season under their current coach was 4 years ago and 21 wins.

But UNI does not have the same roster as they did 4 years ago.

You wouldn't think people would need to be told that on MVCFANS, but here we are.

I was trying to be funny, playing on the UNI/NIU and EU/UE thing people seem to like to do around here. Vodka makes things funny to me only apparently. :buddies:
