This flop rule they have this year needs to go away next season. Just another way that the refs will be able to screw over mid-majors in the NCAA tournament. I didn't watch the game but MSU was called for at least 2 technicals because of the rule. MSU missed two 3's late to tie the game for OT.

Bears were fouled shooting a 3 (not called but obvious on replay) shooter falls and is called for a flop technical. Instead of shooting 3 free throws for the lead Xavier shoots a tech. plus the ball. Called for another flop (technical foul) for trying to draw a charge. Contact was made. 1st flop was Cook shooting a fade away 3 and fell after the shot.
Don't mind the new flop rule but the way it was called tonight is ridiculous.

Like I said, it's just another tool the refs can now use to protect the big schools. This is why I I'm getting to the point where I don't like the NCAA tournament. I like seeing who is going to win the MVC regular and tournament championships, but I don't get too excited for the other stuff anymore. Same old show every year.

I'm not a "blame the refs" guy, and I pretty much accept that you get homered some when you play any power team on their home court; just the way it is. But the way this officials team chose to interpret and enforce the flop rule was both ridiculous and did impact the outcome of the game. It absolutely floored me that on the West trey attempt late in which they called a flop, they reviewed it and the video clearly showed that West was contacted on the arm while shooting and they maintained the call. I didn't think they'd call the foul, but thought they definitely would wave off the flop.

On a good note , while Prim got absolutely jobbed by the officials in this game, he showed glimpses of how he will impact things going forward. We probably are going to take a few more hits with the upcoming schedule, but are starting to show some signs of what we will look like . Unfortunately I think we will be like a couple teams last year in that we struggle early which doesn't help the conference, but then are pretty salty during the MVC race.

I mind it for exactly what happened against MSU. Adding another rule that is 100% subjective to the opinion of a referee is wrong. 99% of officials wouldn't have made that call. 1 decides to and the game is completely altered.

I wouldn't call Xavier necessarily a power program...and you shouldn't expect this type of treatment like Bearz said. It would have been very easy for a ref to whistle a foul at the end of the UK-UE game and they didn't. They let them play. That is a true power school not trying to alter a game.

If this is the treatment we get from Big East refs, maybe we should reconsider taking buy games from these programs. Let them get stuck with a Marty Simmons type schedule and then have to pass the eye test at tournament time.

Wish I could see the play... and video?

ESPN has one highlight of Jones (Xav) blatantly traveling and then dunking.

That was one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen, feel bad for MSU. The flop rule is ridiculous especially in that situation. Basically that was just the ref deciding to hand X the game. Terrible
