Don't sleep on DJ Horne over at ILST. Not saying he is at Domask and Kennedy levels yet but is certainly trending in the right direction. He's beaten out Wichita State transfer Ricky Torres for the starting PG position. Muller puts guys in and out of the starting lineup based on defense and DJ has shown flashes of a young Paris Lee. He is still learning how to be a PG (primarily getting assists) but he is shooting 66.7% from the floor including 53% from 3. He's started the last two games and over the last three is averaging 13.3 ppg. He takes good, high percentage shots.

If he continues to progress, I could see him being in the conversation.

Gabriel has looked great at times and lost others especially on defense. Hes going to be great imo before he grads. With the competition letting up now till the valley season he should be able to get rollin. Gabriel is a real x Factor on how good we will be this year.

ISU has a solid future backcourt with DJ Horne and Antonio Reeves. Both of those guys will be good MVC players.

Dave Reynolds of the PJ Star did a nice story on Bradley freshman Ville Tahvanainen from Finland. He won't win any awards this year, he doesn't get enough playing time on a veteran team, but he will be a good player in this league.

Williams continued his all around offensive and defensive output with 22 points on 7-8 shooting, 7-8 at the free throw line, 8 defensive and 4 offensive rebounds last night at Green Bay.

Perfect timing for this column. Tahvanainen went 5 for 5 from the floor today and 3 for 3 from three for 13 points in Bradley's rout of a pretty good Georgia Southern team. It was Bradley's best performance of the season.

I agree both can be very good MVC guys. In the landscape of college hoops, its tough to get too optimistic this early with the number of times the Birds have been burned by the grass is always greener transfer portal. I'm not too concerned about Horne but the rumor out of HS is that Reeves was a late spring commitment because he was holding out for an offer from Wisconsin.

ILST seems to have a very good group of guards coming in the 2020 class, but these two will be keys to any future success.

Karrington Davis, transfer freshman from Nebraska, has started to look really decent for the Salukis off the bench the last few games. SIU seems to get half their points from freshmen on a daily basis between Domask, Lance Jones, Davis, and Trent Brown

Agree, and Harwin Francios hitting the three ball helps too. Future looking brighter, but MVC play will be more of a challenge for sure.
