Coaching Changes 2020

Postby Lusuperfan1 » January 23rd, 2020, 8:31 pm

Evansville already kicked it off (although I'm still not really sold on Lickliter still being the coach in 2020-21 or 2021-22), but it did get me thinking about the rest of the Valley:

Does Lansing survive the hot seat this year?
Can Lottich survive with a school legend unemployed and available?
Is this the year either Jake or Moser leave their schools?
IlSU is really bad this year, but I still think Muller survives.

The rest of the conference (Wardle, DeVries, Ford, & Mullins) probably won't be leaving, but that's my two cents. Curious to hear about everyone else's thoughts

Does anyone know what Lansing's contract situation is? If it's up, it doesn't get renewed. Otherwise he survives.

Short of a postseason run, Lottich resigns at the end of the season.

Jacobson won't leave UNI. His contract is too good, he doesn't have good recent results aside from this season to show, and UNI can make good runs the next couple of years with their talent.

Moser it depends on crowd support. If Loyola gets some good crowds and keeps good buzz around the program he stays. If Chicago doesn't care neither does he.

I thought Muller was in the last year of his contract, my money is on no renewal.

The other 4 as mentioned I expect to all be back next year.

I sincerely doubt Lottich resigns. If we avoid Thursday he might get extended.

Is Valpo not itching for a Bryce Drew reunion or vice versa? Honestly thought it would happen when Vandy fired him.

Many fans (myself included) are excited or at least intrigued by the possibility of a reunion with Bryce against MVC competition but I'm not sure how the administration feels about that or if they would feel like paying two coaches simultaneously if only for one year (Lottich has next year left on his contract). Also Bryce has no incentive to go back into coaching right now. He's still got two more years of Vanderbilt checks to cash without having to do anything. If Valpo doesn't have a respectable showing down the stretch and Bryce wants to coach again,it could happen but I would be very surprised by that if it were to happen. There's some worry about whether or not you can go home again. Will he be as successful in his second term after a really bad showing at Vanderbilt and in a tougher conference than the one he coached in? It would be really interesting.

Wow didn't realize Muller went through 2024. I doubt the money is spent on this.

Simply put, Muller needs to go, but that contract won't allow it unless we find ourselves a Koch brother to bail us out.

Southern was in the same position with Lowery, and then with Hinson. Big buyouts that could not be met. The program suffered immensely.
IF ISU was able to get rid of Mueller this year, who do fans want as the next coach?
I'll hang up and listen. Thanks

I would love Luke Yaklich. Former assistant for us before Muller handed him to Michigan. Now an assistant at Texas. He is a defensive guru and has family in town.
