I would add that if you're going to go on another fanbase's message board and then complain about what you see, step back for a minute before excoriating that board's entire fanbase and ask yourself: Gosh, I wonder what MY message board might look like to an outsider?
Is it really the ENTIRE message board, or just one or two wankers? Is your board any better by your own terms?
I used to spend some time on the (gasp) WSU message board back in the day and found that--by golly--most of the posters were as reasonable as the people on any other board and were willing to talk if you didn't show up with a chip on your shoulder.
There is a terrific Simpsons episode from the early days when the kids from Springfield go to Shelbyville and are freaked out by how "different" it is. The gag, of course, is that it is exactly the same as Springfield.
