In what appeared to be a bonus scene from The Walking Dead for the first 30 minutes, UNI has stormed from 21 down to cut it to 1 in 10 minutes, erasing about 2/3 of that deficit with AJ Green sitting.

Won’t show in the box score but Antwan Kimmons made some critical plays in the comeback, including eliciting a charge on a 3-on-1.

Ladies and gentlemen, the Valley is officially a one-bid league.

Such a bummer to follow something all year long only to completely come apart so quickly. At-large is gone, now we have to see if we can regroup and still win the league title. Not sure we will win Sunday the way we are playing.....and we could fall all the way to 4th if we don't stop the bleeding soon.

We as a conference bear as much responsibility for this as UNI. We need more than one standard bearer one mantle carrier. We ALL need to get better from UNI on down to Valpo (who has proven the least of any MVC member in its tenure in the league which is why I list them as the lowest team despite their position in the standings). It's on the ENTIRE MVC to make this league a multibid league again not just UNI. I believe we can and will get there as long as the league is not beset by mass transfers but it's going to take all of us to commit and decide that that is a goal we want to pursue.

I'm going to say it: At this point you have to start worrying about A.J. Green's grip on the POY award too. If the logic is "best player on the best team" there's no clear indication that UNI is the best team anymore. The door is now open to players like Krutwig and perhaps even Freeman-Liberty if they want to consider somebody that a program would be nothing and nowhere without.

It will be Green if UNI wins, Krutwig if Loyola wins.....and if Bradley wins I dunno. Because of their injuries they don't have a guy that is the obvious go to so it could be interesting.

SIU could still win it too......I don't know if Domask has the stats. Maybe if they win JFL gets consideration, but it would probably go to Green or Krutwig at that point.

I'm so supremely bummed. Not just at the loss but with what was at stake and we just simply did not show up. Furious rally notwithstanding......we've done that in all of our league losses. That doesn't do much for me anymore.

We know your pain only too well here in Valpo. Not showing up resulting in slow starts deep holes and furious rallies that frequently come up short have been the story of Matt Lottich's entire tenure especially in the MVC where he didn't have Alec Peters to cover for him.

I agree that it will likely be Green or Krutwig but the door is wide open now for Krutwig as well as others to possibly make their case. Green has proven that he alone is not an invincible savior that can will his team to win no matter what the circumstances. I honestly think the team has become far too dependent on Green which is a shame because they have plenty of other talented players that can and should step up. If Green has a slow or inefficient start UNI should be fine but they aren't because they've allowed themselves to be hopelessly dependent upon him to bail them out and carry them to victory.

You know what the toughest part of being a 'mid-major' (I hate that term) fan is?

Being 22-5 with great wins and having to sit here and think about the prospect of not making the tournament when teams like Indiana, Rutgers and Ohio State are seen as locks when they're going to end up 19-12 similar because the metrics were changed to give them all sorts of opportunities AT HOME and a complete pass to not have to worry about it when they lose road games. CBS/Turner paid the money and they're getting what they want but it's just disheartening for everybody else.

Like I said last night, I'm not if the opinion the at large is dead yet. These two losses were both Q2 road games with a NET margin of a total of 4 points. They aren't the killers that we've conditioned ourselves to think they are. We won't drop more than a spot or two when the NET comes out this morning.

Win the two home games, win by 10 at Drake and a couple Valpo wins to make that road game a Quad 2 (they're 3 spots away) and things start to look pretty good going to StL.

We're a year ahead of schedule too. All is well in Panther Nation.

More than a spot or two, down 8 spots to 47.
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
