I think the bigger question is will be if Dan Muller keeps his job in Normal.

UE is on its 4th coach in 3 years (Simmons had to go) and our record has gotten worse each year. Replacing a coach at this level is not that easy. The grass is not always greener.

100%.

Fire Lottich - goodbye Freeman Liberty. Good luck finding another guy as good as him right away.

Is 1 player - with only 2 years max left - worth the direction the program has been with players outside of that one single program worth it in the bigger picture?

Say he gets the 6 seed next year and maybe a 4 seed JFL's senior season if he stick around. Do you have faith in Lottich that the program is actually going to be healthy that following season?

It's worth the 1 player vs entire program discussion.

Do we actually believe JFL is going to stay? The only reason he is there right now is because he could not get into Northwestern. I am sure some of their top players will leave again. Until they prove otherwise, that is just what they do every offseason.

We're not sure ourselves if he would stay because he did explore his options last offseason and whether we have improved enough to keep him happy is certainly a matter of debate but the overwhelming majority of your post is so false that you should be ashamed. We didn't have a mass exodus after our first year in the MVC. We had a tough (and needed) rebuild. Also, Northwestern SUCKS this year and has sucked for the overwhelming majority of its history to the degree that their coach will probably be fired this year. Is it so inconceivable that he took one look at the roster and the program and thought "No thanks it's no better than my current situation because I want to win?" Your personal shot at Javon saying he didn't transfer because he "couldn't get into Northwestern" is noted and not appreciated. That is the most shameful part of your post. If that had been the case he would have transferred and any academic issues would have been very public because I remember Morthwestern had to refuse a recruit that same offseason for academic reasons.

That was the strongest rumors that I heard, not my personal belief. He wanted to go to NW and could not.
That was all I heard for weeks. He was not a recruit but a transfer, so no they would not have to come out and say it. Also, a power 5 not being the best shot does not seem to matter a lot to people trying to move up in the college basketball world. Ask Dru Smith... Also, not being able to get into Northwestern does not constitute academic issues anyway, its hardly a shot at anyone if they were unable to get it, it is a decent school ya know...

Keep.
He did well this season considering the off season. Stability is good. And he’s young.

Well, the posters over at the Redbird board want the President, Athletic Director and Muller fired.

Tough times in Normal. :Violin:

And, I'd keep Lottich, by the way. Good coach...things are looking up at Valpo, but you need a major facility upgrade.

I hope the MVC wasn’t sold a bill of good that Valpo would be making a major facility upgrade, because that’s not happening anytime soon. And yes, it would be in Valpo’s best interest to do so.

You gotta keep him.

Liberty, Clay, Krikke, Sackey all have serious potential and are YOUNG. Couple really promising recruits coming in. Every year Lottich has gotten better at X's and O's and is clearly learning and adapting. Big time projects like McMillan are getting better every year.
Recruiting (check)
Improving X's and O's (check)
Young team getting better as season goes on (check)
Players are improving year to year (check)

If Fazekas hadn't missed the 1st half of the conference season they would have finished in the top 5 this year. Losing Fazekas will hurt but with the returners coming back they will be very good next year. Gotta give him a couple years to see if he can 1. Keep players from transferring and 2. win with the guys he is recruiting. If after 2 years we are still in the lower half I would let him go, but gotta see what he can do with this roster.
