What does anyone having been to BYU have to do with the situation?...

It is not a good idea for the school because they think that their football program is a hot commodity, when in reality it is not. And they are sacrificing the rest of their entire athletic program to an inferior conference to do this.

Well, everyone would be flying for men's basketball. Each school probably only has one or two conference schools they regularly drive to anyway. As for the other sports, flying commercially would be an option.

Evansville flew commercially for years after the crash at EVV. Never was it any convience to it. If parents and comp tickets holders wanted to fly it is not,in today flying schedule comfortable.

They have great support, great faciilities, and their own built in religion. They consistantly schedule BCS level opponents. Their deal with the WAC would have them scheduling 4-6 WAC teams per year, and then they can fill the rest with whoever they like. That is a perfect situation. If you think your team is at a high level, have a championship worthy schedule, if you're rebuilding, schedule down.

Like I said, I was addressing the fan aspect of accessible...I can drive to TH from Omaha in 9 hours...2.5 to Dez Moinez...

Google maps is telling me 14 hours to Salt Lake City...I'm not saying...I'm just saying. I know some of the fans like to do road trips to various opposing team venues...that would be a little more difficult to accomplish. Yes, I'm aware that there are airports in SLC...I've been to it once in my lifetime (Park City ski trip where I wrecked my knee the first time down the slopes and drank beer, sat in a hot tub and watched March Madness the rest of the trip).

Off the wall, it won't happen due to no football scenario but what if Nevada and Fresno say 'no'...The eastern-most MWC schools go looking for better geographical fits. So Air Force, N Mexico, Colo St, Wyoming and TCU go looking in the Great Plains and find...CUSA schools on that conferences western front, Houston, Rice, Tulsa and UTEP.

Now, with only 9 schools with football, they also need to fill out the conference for other sports especially basketball so they go further north in the Great Plains and find...

Wichita State? Oral Roberts? Creighton? others?

More than likely they would prefer to stay with football schools so do they try to entice KU and KState?

Shake ups make the summer months interesting!!

On second thought... or is it third? Apparently BYU will go independent in football and join the WCC for hoops.

The WCC is starting to look stronger than the WAC...

I'm surprised the WAC hasn't been a little more urgent in trying to bring teams on board. I'm guessing they are trying their hardest to get D-1 Schools before going the 1-AA route, but if they do grab a couple of 1-AA schools, I still don't see how it survives.

If I am a 1-AA school looking to move up, I would tread carefully. They might find themselves right back where they started.
