I would keep provided they retain key pieces this spring. No extension is warranted. And I would let him know a top-half MVC finish (which won’t be easy) is necessary. Otherwise, time to move on.
Clay was a nice signing that could end up saving his bacon.

Yeah I think this question was settled beyond all reasonable doubt tonight! GO VALPO!

Yes yes we do. Hopefully we'll get one soon.

I hope the MVC wasn’t sold a bill of good that Valpo would be making a major facility upgrade, because that’s not happening anytime soon. And yes, it would be in Valpo’s best interest to do so.

Lottich outcoached Porter Moser today.

Free throws killed Loyola, it’s been the story all season.

I'm hearing good things about your incoming class though Blers. Seems like a lot of your shooting woes are going to be solved next year which is good for the MVC. I assume that means free throws as well. I bet Coach Moser is going to make them shoot a bunch of extra free throws as a Summer assignment to improve in this very important facet that is essential to winning in crunch time.

Lottich recruits as well as Bryce did and Valpo has a nice attraction for foreign players. That alone gives them a high edge over most teams at that level. These are guys who fly under the radar and make a program successful. Whether that's Lottich or the university itself, so long as that intangible pipeline exists, Valpo will challenge for something -- even if it is an NIT home court advantage.

That's not nothing. You can find a lot of "Mister Clean" coaches to take over at Valpo and you will end up with the same thing -- this program attracts good (not great, always) players. Hammick made Peters look good and nobody needed to do that. There are other examples, like Broekoff or the Walkers -- most programs in the Valley would LOVE to have these guys, and the P-5 programs would sign them and sit them on the end of the bench for 4 years.

Valpo is in a nice spot (I live 3 blocks from there, it's a great place to see a game!) and messing with the coach and his staff is not a good strategy. They gave Bryce plenty of chances and it paid off with a trip to MSG. I was disappointed at the way the city ignored that, to be honest.

Replacing Lottich does nothing for the program's prestige.

We really only add one player in Baylor Hebb. But with Kaifes and Norris both eligible/healthy to play we add two sophomores who both shot over 45% from 3. That plus we finally get some senior leadership that’ll be hungry to win. Valpo doesn’t win the last two games without Kiser and Fazekas, they were stellar!

I’ve always thought they should keep Lottich. He’s gotten some really nice players under pretty crappy circumstances with the facilities he’s working with compared to the competition.

I agree. He's faced an uphill climb his entire tenure and handled it beautifully all things considered. The fanbase was just frustrated because we aren't used to struggling as much as we have and all the deficits and white knuckle comebacks are hard on the heart. But most I think came around after last night and this thread looks pretty stupid in retrospect. However I have no problem looking bad or being wrong or changing my opinion when evidence is presented so I wouldn't have it any other way. I hope Lottich continues to make my skepticism look stupid and unfounded for years to come! :bounce:  :buddies:  :Yea!:

You're totally right about the seniors. Both were amazing last night and Kiser especially was a man possessed on both ends of the floor. He is a terrific and shining example of what we want a Valpo player to be like and we are grateful for his leadership and hope his example endures well into the future!

Alright! An Indiana school playing in the championship. Maybe it is time for the 3 Indiana schools to start dominating the MVC.
