It's actually all five G5 FBS conferences (Sun Belt CUSA MAC MWC and AAC). I still think the answers for the Sun Belt and CUSA is to come together to contract their footprints. Doing so would save considerable money for all schools involved and thereby make all of their athletic programs better because they have more money to spend on things that enhance competitiveness.

That's a great idea. No need to have two conferences spread from the east coast to Texas.

It really seems like the financial hardships from Covid-19 are going to accelerate the split between the Power Five conferences and Group of Five within FBS football. I'm not sure if FBS would split into two and stay completely separate from FCS, or if the lower level G5 schools would be forced down into FCS. But it seems possible the Valley could pick up a few schools from the AAC, Sun Belt, or Conference USA who simply can't afford FBS level football, especially with TV contracts expiring in the next few years.

Given the financial hardships looming , it'll be interesting to see how the non P-5 schools both FBS and FCS look at football. For the P-5 , football is their bell cow and they'll do everything to restore it, because everything they do athletically is driven by that revenue. But for a majority of of non P-5's football is their biggest cost , and in a climate where some schools have already announced trimming some sports, it'll be interesting to see what transpires.

Personally, I think college sports will go by the wayside. It will still exists but in a much smaller capacity. Football in 50 years will probably hardly exists at the high school level pretty much killing the college level. It will just be people who think football is their only way out. Basketball players will go more towards developmental leagues. Some big changes are coming I just dont think it are the ones being mentioned here. In fact, I think a lot of colleges will close as we are seeing first hand that on campus is not needed as much. Technology rules. A lot will online. Also, it will cost a lot less meaning not enough money for most colleges to have sports. Then again if a lot of colleges close more will be going to ones that stay open so they could still have sports just a lot less teams. But, overall I don't think it will be big entertainment in 50 years. AND, I think the emphasis of college period will be less than what it is today. Most people could just go to 1-2 year trade schools. No reason for 4 year colleges.

California high school star Jalen Green, the No. 1 prospect in the 2020 ESPN 100, is making the leap to a reshaped NBA professional pathway program -- a G League initiative that will pay elite prospects $500,000-plus and provide a one-year development program outside of the minor league's traditional team structure, sources told ESPN.

This means even if you injure yourself you get at least half a mil...plus your insurance money. This will eventually take care of most of the one and dones if the NBA doesnt let high schoolers enter the draft.

That sounds like a positive development. It means these schools have to actually recruit. And they might not get the top top talent anymore who may opt for the G League and the money. This could make upsets more common.

Split? What split? The P5 is having their cake and eating the G5 cake too. The P5 doesn’t need a split, they have it all now. The only way a split happens is if G5 football decides it’s tired of being used and pushes too hard. They are currently lying down at taking it with no resistance.
