The Missouri Valley Conference has always been solid, and has always had good coaches. The problem has been keeping those coaches, and more recently keeping top 25 programs from bolting for better oppotunities. If Ford, Mullins, Wardle, etc. have long term success, will they stay or will they bolt as well given the opportunity? How does the MVC keep the top coaches? Something to ponder.

That's going to come down to money and unfortunately that's going to be a losing argument on our end almost every time unless we find a lifer like Jacobson or Homer Drew or Rick Byrd. The only reason Marshall is still at Wichita State is because they have a billionaire bankrolling them and they could afford to match P5 offers. Short of that or an intense outpouring of loyalty for a program I don't see how an MVC team keeps its best coaches.

UNI also found $11 Million for Jake. I have no doubt he plans to be a lifer in Cedar Falls but he wouldn't have been at $450k a year.

Leaving the MVC for the AAC was another reason Marshall is still there. A new challenge and opportunity presented itself. However, he hasn't exactly tore up the AAC and he had many players leave this Spring. Never a good sign. McDermott might be in trouble too at CU if allegations are proven true.
