Is UE testing the OVC waters? 6 games against OVC opponents. The Belmont series will be a good test for the Aces. I think EIU will upset them. TTU and @UTM should be good matchups, while SEMO should be a win.

UE should be able to schedule OVC schools fairly easily in years to come. It's a good chance for OVC schools to play in the Ford Center before it really matters in March.

Yes, but the most coveted OVC game is against Murray State and that did not happen for this year.

I was surprised that they weren't on the schedule. Do you know if the TTU, EIU, and SEMO games are home and homes? I saw the game @UTM which raised my curiosity.

Nothing has posted whether there are games with these teams beyond this year.

This schedule kinda sucks (but so does ours) but I get it. Gotta keep travel costs down at this difficult time. And they'll be able to rack up some wins in the non-conference which might help their NET rating. This can't be exciting for the fanbase though.

Seeing as how we don't really know if any of these games will even be played, we will take what we can get, at least for this year.

Well, if you are gonna play another middie, it might as well be a team that's at least close enough for some fans to attend. Playing OVC teams isn't brutal. You have a 50-50 chance of winning, which is maybe better than being handed a 30-point road-kill loss and a paycheck for $30K.

I don't know why the other top Indiana programs aren't locked into something of a revolving schedule. It's as though they would rather just ignore each other part of the time.

Personally, I also don't think mixing in a Horizon game here and there is brutal. Nothing says arrogance more than pretending Wright State or Green Bay can't beat you.

I agree but the OVC is not the HL and UE is scheduling some schools that are pretty weak even in the OVC. If it's a 50-50 chance UE loses to schools like SEMO and UT-Martin then they have some real issues that they need to address. Nobody is saying Green Bay and Wright State can't beat MVC competition. The HL is getting better and the top two teams (Wright State and NKU) are pretty good. You don't have to tell Valpo fans that the HL has some good programs. I fully endorse playing a couple HL teams every year. Those are solid series we should be taking. I think that league is about to really start trending upward and it will only get better with Robert Morris now in tow. Most MVC teams play a handful of HL teams anyway so I don't really get this point. I also wish the Indiana schools would open up and play the mids of Indiana. Expanding the crossroads classic to include mids would make for an amazing weekend event but I get it. Why travel when you can stay home and play them? Or why risk getting embarrassed like ISUb did to Butler and IU recently? There's a reason they don't play us and it's a shame that there's no logistical way to use their fear against them come selection time. We just have to keep proving it on the court whenever wherever and however the opportunity is given.

I'd make the argument that the OVC passed up the HL several years ago. Belmont and Murray State are better than WSU and NKU. I also watched in person a 6th place OVC school wipe the floor against a 3rd place HL school (UWGB vs EIU) this past season.
