Coronavirus canceling games

As of today the Bears are confirmed to be playing at Oklahoma [ Football] on 9/12/20; supposedly have a pair of games also scheduled with Central Arkansas in the noncon for football this fall. The OU game is huge because of the $600,000 being paid to MSU. Unless either or both schools have major problems once school starts, the chances for getting that game in are looking at least fair.

I used to be optimistic, but I have serious doubts that we will have any major sports at all this school year.

NCAA needs to have a tournament this year for the money generated. They can't lose 2 March Madness in a row. My worry is that mid-major conferences won't play or can't afford to play without buy games from the power leagues, which then leads to an NCAA tourney that excludes a lot of leagues.

I don't think the situation for mid-major conferences is THAT dire, but money is still an issue no doubt.

This would be the perfect year to have the NCAA Tournament consist of 32 Regular Season Champions & 32 Conference Tournament Champions, but chances are higher the virus magically goes away tomorrow than that happening.

(4 At-Larges, any duplicate champion becomes an additional at-large).

Gavitt has already said he plans on having the NCAA Tourney and that it won't be "fair or equitable". Interpret that to mean, we have to help our P-5 schools recoup lost football dollars so look for a tourney with as many of them as possible.

I suppose that no one in our universities teach immunology, epidemiology, etc. The virus is now in the rear view mirror of Sweden (which never locked down), but I suppose they don't have a big election coming up in November...

Italy, Spain, Belgium, and the UK, all countries that locked down, had higher death rates. I have no clue where you are getting your info on economic data. Sweden, as explained in a very extensive Stanford University study, achieved herd immunity after just 17% of their population had been exposed to the virus ( the one we are treating as though it were the Black Plague). The reason they achieved herd immunity is because as much as 50-60% of the adult population may have natural immunity now, either through antibodies, or T-cell immunity. To grasp all this takes more mental gymnastics than just buying into the hysteria though. Statistics also seems to be a lost science. Turn off CNN and play ball.
