Attendance with COVID at MVC conf/OOC games

Postby sivert » October 2nd, 2020, 7:25 am

Listening to the March to the Arch podcast and I thought it would be good to have one place to check on possible rules for road trips...

Please post: availability of general admission, rules for attendance, COVID rates at your school & community, etc.

----=====----
UNI has not at this point released info on allowed attendance...

I have not heard anything yet from Bradley on fans specifically, but based on how strict the Illinois Governor is, I can't see how any fans will be allowed as of right now.

If fans are not allowed, the big question will be if Bradley tries to move the games on-campus to the Renaissance Coliseum to try and save some money. Not sure what the contract with the Civic Center contract looks like either.

It's going to be an interesting year for sure.

I've heard at ILST, no fans at home games at all in 2020. They will reevaluate in 2021 per the governor's guidelines. It's understood the Arena will not operate at full capacity. Tickets will be distributed to priority donors and then anything left will be sold to the general public. Over the last couple of seasons, the season ticket holders have really been the only ones attending games so I'd be surprised if there were many ticket to be had in the public.

Bears moving forward with plans for fans in the stands for all athletic events. Talking about 25-30% capacity, with season ticket holders getting first divs. For football in 2 weeks we are looking at about 5-6,000 available seats, basketball will be more around 4,000. Have a VB game this sat that is free, but probably won't have more than 500 .

Indiana State will allow 25% of capacity to attend, which won't matter anyway because our normal (people actually in seats) home crowd averages less than 25% capacity anyway

Thank you for creating this thread. Northern Iowa and Drake are the last two arenas in the Valley I need to visit with a doubleheader weekend so I've been curious as to what the policies are before I drive all the way up there from Southern Indiana.

All of the Valley arenas I have been to have had plenty of space to spread fans out and still get close to what they were already averaging. If it does become an issue, I wonder if Northern Iowa would consider their football stadium and Drake one of the other arenas in Des Moines.

Not basketball, but reportedly Bears are about 400 tickets shy of selling out the 6,000 available seats for the lone home game of football noncon schedule this Sat. It's billed as "Homecoming" [little weird given everything] . There is no Bear Fest Village, although tail gating will be allowed on the parking lot areas. This is final game before season halts until conference play after 1st of the year. Bears are playing second game against Central Arkansas after opening season against Oklahoma.

Probably of more interest to me will be the "Meet the Bears and Lady Bears " preview scrimmages held earlier that day as part of homecoming activities. Anxious to see the Bears and 9 newcomers [ 7 scholy /2 walkon] and the preseason top 25 LadyBears on the court. Seems like eons. :Yea!:

UE just released their plan today. Around 25% capacity based on CDC guidelines. Season ticket holders will be moved around in pods. Empty rows in front of and behind. No aisle seating. Based on season ticket amounts, very little of the street seats will be available.

UNI is going go with 1750 people (23ish%) with a cap of 4 seats per season ticket holder account.

Wouldn't surprise me if that gets bumped up a little bit.

It sounds promising. Does anyone know when times for the games will be announced? I'm hoping Creighton comes out with a schedule soon so I can try to pair them with UNI and Drake.
