Think the league is going to announce today going to the format many other conferences have with playing both games against a league opponent at either home or away the same weekend. Makes some sense, but I don't like it. In VB to keep it even they are playing 4 home sets, 4 away, and you don't play one team ; that way every one gets 8 home, 8 away games. I don't like that. Also obviously, it comes down to who do you draw for home vs away. Obviously, a team like UNI or Loyola could end up with playing both the other and Bradley on the road for 4 games , or some version of that. We'll see.

Yeah, that whole event is off now. I don't know if it ever found a fourth team anyway.

There are no announced games at this point. We were supposed to have Furman at home, and roadies against DePaul and Davidson. All three have released schedules, and we aren't on them. (Nor on any of the 200 some-odd other schedules that are out.)

I expected a few home games, but with our shutdown, we probably lost a few of those.

So, who knows what will happen. DePaul is shut down, too, so maybe we end up playing them after all.

ETA: Just saw BEARZ post, and I think that setup makes the most sense. Wouldn't really bother me at this point if Loyola only left the area once or twice.

If this happens, I have a hard time seeing the Illinois schools getting many home games except with each other. Our restrictions are getting tighter and the feel of another "stay at home" order is looming.

No offense to Loyola, but Chicago is one of the last places I'd want to take my team. I'd look to the more rural places to be a primary host.

This is official. League has gone to the model where you play the same team twice at the same site in back to back days. This means each team will play four teams at home twice, four teams on the road twice, and play a home-and-home with their travel partner on back to back days.

I would imagine whoever draws the home games between UNI and Loyola becomes the favorite to win the league.

I don't know who travel partners are, but I would surmise them to be

Evansville-Indiana State
MSU-SIU
BU-Illinois State
UNI-Drake
Valpo-Loyola

Does it really matter where the games are being played if there are few or no fans?

Sure it does. Crowds are only one part of a home court advantage. Travel, familiarity of the court, sightlines, etc all factor into homecourt advantage.

Plus it's very different depending on the school what the plans are for butts in seats. While it can all change tomorrow, that was a big part of the noncon scheduling approach here at MSU. They are letting up to 3900 attend for both men and wbb programs. Men chose to schedule nothing but home games [7] and while it remains to be seen what kind of attendance they actually get, they at least have the potential with 16 home games to generate some revenue. The WBB program with a Nationally ranked program took an approach aimed at securing games that could build an at large resume, and while they lost games scheduled against Indiana, Oklahoma State, and South Dakota, were able to keep a solid tourney with games against Maryland and Wake Forest, kept an away MU game , and was able to get home games with solid programs Tulsa and South Dakota St.

Anyway, that could be one of the things that really impact a race, that being if on the road you play in empty arenas, but at home can put 3-4,000 in attendance. Who knows.
