I’ve always been a bit lower on Green than most, but I think he genuinely hurt them some this week. He’s so talented but still frequently tries to do more than he has to. When he’s hot he’s downright scary but when he’s cold he’ll try and shoot his way out of it and force up shots he simply doesn’t have too. I feel like he was handed the keys to do whatever he wanted as a freshman out of necessity, and he’s kept some bad habits since then he just needs to shake. As a lead ball handler his assist/turnover ratio is about one to one and he’s still not the defender you’d want him to be... I also think teams have figured out if you blitz him on the high pick and roll you can force a turnover because his handles are good but not great.

He’s still gonna hit shots no one in the league can, he just doesn’t always have to take them anymore. This year he has so many more options he could use (especially with Born as a another ball handler/shooter). I’ll be curious if they’ll play him more off ball, I definitely think they’re gonna figure stuff out come January.

Panthers have many weaknesses needing coaching. And coaching decisions need to be improved, end of game decisions were head scratchers. Panther will still challenge for the MVC regular season title.

I'm at a loss to see why UNI is favored to win the conference. they have Green. yay. Clearly, he isnt enough to get it done. When berhower gets back, he'll help, but going 0-3 against the teams they played doesnt give me a whole lot of stock to put title hopes with that squad. We'll see what Loyola looks like, but Bradley has a much better shot to win conference than UNI, who is very one dimensional. Green will carry them some nights but live and die by the three does not a conf title make

I think you're forgetting Phyfe, he was as dominant as any player in the Valley the last half of last year; but I understand why because UNI has forgot him to. That said, I had Loyola picked to win from the start and Bradley was always going to be right there with both. Hard to know about Indiana State at this point, but on paper, they aren't much off that. Drake has been impressive, but not sure they move up too much yet . 4-6 still looks most likely, but in this year, who really knows.

In the late 1980's, Prairie View temporarily dropped athletics, but due to alumni relations, brought them back as non-scholarship. They had a year where their football, men's and women's basketball teams combined to go 0-65. The men's team was completely winless in 1991-92 (0-28), 92-93 (0-24) and lost their first 11 games of 1993-94. They also lost their last 3 games of 1990-91, for a total winless streak of 66 games.

I mean they're favored because of last year and that's what most people use to predict the future. With that being said they're clearly not the same team from last year and people are starting to realize that. I do think they'll turn it around, all three teams that they played were ranked in the top 100 on kenpom, that's better than every single team aside from Loyola in the valley. I wasn't expecting them to look this bad starting the season but they have too much talent to not turn it around. I have always thought that Loyola was the favorite but Bradley, UNI, and Drake are all going to be fighting each other for it.

I was discouraged too but Jake teams always get better as the year goes on.

Getting Berhow back and, most likely, Mar's waiver approved is going to make a world of difference in defense and rebounding.

Phyfe saw 2 NBA bigs and a kid that had played club ball in Australia in that tournament and held his own defensively. He'll be just fine as well.

Definitely no panic button in Cedar Falls.

After 3 losses, Bart Torvik still has us at #61. This team can score points. If we get the defense going, we'll be fine.

Exactly, they played three quality teams. They're going to be good this year and a tough team to face in the valley but so far it's looking like last years team was stronger. I can't see Berhow fixing the defensive issues, the shooting was already there without him. He definitely can't hurt the team though, especially depth wise in a 3 game tourney. It seems unlikely that the UNI defense could get any worse throughout the season, so I'm still considering them a top contender.

What's lost on most posters is they dont realize these 3 losses are actually very good teams. They didnt lose to Duke so they think they should be able to beat anyone that's not P5.
