Really excited to see the Ramblers play this week. Wish they had more than a days rest before Wisconsin, but I'd rather play than not. The teams clearly still getting into shape and we're a bit banged up right now with Agunanne out, Clemons slowly being brought back from a knee injury and some other guys dealing with nagging injuries, but they still should be able to compete.

The UIC game was a good gauge of where the teams at; I said it last week but I love what Yak's doing there. I'd be shocked if they don't finish top 3 in the horizon. That said Williamson has looked great, Kennedy looks a bit stronger and has grown as a passer, and Norris is the real deal at point... hoping they can pick up at least one big win for the Valley!

Doesn't look like the Valley is ready for prime time yet. Ramblers lose to Wisconsin by 14, and Ind. St. loses to St. Louis by 19. Illinois St., and the Aces, were the only two winners last night. Probably the two worst teams in the league, but they weren't playing the caliber of teams that the Ramblers , and Trees were playing either.

What happened this year? This year looked like a potential banner year for the MVC and we have fallen way short (Valpo included or even Valpo especially). And this year felt like the kind of year for schools like ours to crash the party moreso than normal years. It's very disappointing.

Not having a normal off-season killed us. We don't have a program that can just roll the ball out and be great. We beat teams in scouting, experience and coaching. When that's taken away, this is what you get.

Bears finally got to play a game and they definitely looked like a team with 8 newcomers and who hadn't played or practiced much in past 3 weeks. Beat a pretty poor D-2 team , William Jewell 73-64. Had spurts where they led for 15-18 , but just couldn't maintain much. Played w/o projected starting pg Demarcus Sharp, and they are definitely gonna need him . Also 7'0 Hawaii transfer Dawson Carper didn't play, but it now looks like he will be eligible and he should be in the rotation and help behind Prim.

Prim has trimmed down, is healthy for 1st time, and looks ready; went for 20 pts, 6 rbs, 8 assists and 2 blks.
Team looks weak on the boards and really need a playmaking pg. Black filled and had a nice night scoring, but isn't a playmaker, and freshman Patterson can give minutes but isn't ready to do more than that.

Play 2 more games this week with the most telling being game on Monday vs UALR. Still trying to fill one more pre conference. Long way to go with this team.

I just watched Valpo vs. Purdue Northwest (DII), and while Valpo played down to their competition I was thoroughly impressed with PNW. If anyone is looking for kids who can play at MVC level, they’ve got at least 1, maybe 2. Vincent Miszkiewcz from PNW is averaging 14.3 pts and 12 reb vs all D1 opponents (Bowling Green, Ohio, and Valpo). Shooting 53% from the field doing it. He transferred from Incarnate Word (D1) and led them in rebounding as a freshman.

Donovan Clay from Valpo looked pretty good as usual and I think by the time he’s a senior will be someone to deal with. He’s progressing nicely, but wish there was a fast forward button. Connor Barrett is a legit shooter, but as of now will mostly catch and shoot. For those who follow Purdue, think Ryan Cline. After than there’s nobody that impressed.

*Valpo was out rebounded 43-31 despite PNW having nobody taller than 6’7 who played more than 1 minute.
