Here is a novel idea. 80% of all people who contract the virus experience mild or zero symptoms. College age kids have virtually nothing to fear from the virus. Age 60 and under have a 99.7% chance of NOT dying from the virus. Why don't we allow fans to the games, just like we allow people to Wal-Mart, Home Depot, etc.? ANYONE who fears the virus can choose not to attend. I live in Florida, which opened up May 1 of this year. I have been a visitor to Illinois the last few weeks, and man what a difference! Illinois is still playing ping-pong with "keeping people safe", while my home county in Florida has not seen a fatality in weeks. Restaurants and bars are open, people are pretty much free to do what they are comfortable doing. It is my belief that much of the response by government and university "leadership" has been knee-jerk, and not grounded in the "science" of which they preach. I truly feel sorry for the small business owners in the states who have been bankrupted by politicians who have no clue what it is like to try to make a living in the real world.
I realize who radical this must sound to those who are "bought in" to the panic, but I am not in that universe. And, by the way, I am considered to be in the "high risk" age bracket, but I take care of myself, I would happily attend a game.
I will end this; with more people will die from depression induced overdoses, lack of medical care, and suicide than the non-elderly and frail who are in the last stages of life and will succumb to the virus (or the flu, or a broken hip).
