WAC FCS league to be announced next week. WAC still looking at at least two more schools to add.

Also read some message board speculation that the ASUN moves are going to be announced soon as well but that one is less substantiated.

Are they ever going to kick Chicago State out? I feel like the WAC has just been waiting for Chicago State to fail or drop to DII, but eventually they need to kick them out right?

I don't have an answer for that. I've read rumblings on various boards that Chicago State's future will be decided soon. I think they have an agreement to remain with the WAC through 2022 but I'm not sure. I doubt they'll do anything to push them out as (although it was a co-dependent relationship) Chicago State kept the WAC from succumbing to the blows wrought by previous realignments which allowed them to survive and get to what appears to be a stable place now. I think they're waiting for them to leave of their own accord but I don't think Chicago State has anywhere else to go. Plus as far as their concerned I think travel just got better for them with all of these schools being added ("better" being a very relative term here.)

If all of them are going FBS NO REASON ISU cannot. Some of their endowments are half of ISU's

I did a little digging RE: Chicago State and found this:

So it sounds like they might be leaving but that isn't substantiated yet.

I personally don't think it does. It could but it doesn't seem terribly likely. There are so many schools better suited for FBS callups than these schools that are leaving the Southland for the WAC.

If the A-Sun rumor is true and Jacksonville State and Eastern Kentucky are indeed leaving the OVC I wonder if that would give Belmont Murray State and the MVC more mutual interest and appetite for a move. It's possible but of course removing two of the more far flung schools in the footprint might be exactly what Belmont would want and make them feel even cozier in their home conference. Murray State (if their fanbase is any indication) still has the appetite for a move, but we'll see if it all comes together. I don't know what the MVC's feelings on the matter would be even if these schools did become interested at this point.

Who would take us? AAC - No. MAC - No. CUSA? Sun Belt? And then instead of playing for a championship we get a chance to play for the Myrtle Beach Bowl?

Doug Elgin is leaving as commissioner so anything can happen. Maybe we can be proactive as a conference now.

As critical as I have been for not going to 11 teams and 20 games by adding Murray State I really believe that has more to do with the presidents' reluctance as well as Belmont's reluctance than Elgin himself. I think Elgin would have added Murray State and done 11 teams temporarily if it were solely his decision; and it would have been a moot point and we would have been at 12 had Belmont not been so reluctant to move before. We'll see what the coming realignment moves will do if they happen. Maybe Belmont will change their mind now and we can expand.
