Mentioned in another thread that Gaige Prim announced yesterday he will return next year. Only real senior of consequence on MSU, but obviously a big positive.Thought he might given his course thru his college career with 1 season D-2, 1 season juco, then a somewhat injury impacted junior year last year. Only 2021 recruit signed so far is local star 6'2 guard Isaac Haney of Kickapoo, but he'll help.

If I had to guess now, no one is coming back. But that could change with the landscape of things. I really think the team isn't talking about next year at this point, and are more focused on the next game instead. Whenever they've been asked it's been a "wait and see" type answer. We have a lot of young talent that i'm not sure we want to keep buried on the bench... But I'd still love if they could stay

The teams recruiting momentum is really high at this point and i'm not sure they want to stymie that with a bloated roster.........but it would be a really fun roster.

I would think signing a pair of upperclassmen Ivy kids , indicates Porter is assuming most of his seniors won't be back or he will have a real log jam with recruits and underclassmen stymied in their movement. I'm sure he's vetted those transfers well, but even really solid kids get off sorts when they aren't playing like they thought they would.

Yep, I'm also not buying what everyone says about coming back during the season. You're in the trenches at that point, experiencing the highs and lows of a season. How any of us feels about our team won't be the same as how we feel in two weeks. And that difference is likely to be even more pronounced for the guys actually playing. I think JFL last year is the perfect example of this.

Agreed 100%. I think a lot more guys will move on once they get some time away after the season. It's a heck of a grind and for those with pro potential why play another year for free if you have your degree?

Yep exactly!!! It's so much work mentally and physically. Especially for players who've been playing major minutes for 4 seasons. Not saying no one will return, I'm sure plenty will. But I'm not really putting too much hype/stock into what anyone says until after the season.

My early guess is that none of the Valpo seniors return. More broadly I'm doubting that 30% of mid-major seniors will continue with college basketball. Why return if a glut of incoming and existing talent threatens to significantly reduce your minutes? Special situations aside, when it is time to go it is time to go.

I guess i'm wondering how Covid affects the playing for money aspect. Are there going to still be restrictions and limitations? Maybe another year seems more logical than most years/

Honestly, Im not sure why anyone with pro potential would return unless they have a legit chance at a sweet 16 like the Loyola seniors. Any, none pro potential guys I could see returning because this is the highest theyll ever play but those guys are probably not clogging up the bench for newcomers.

Exactly. There are six seniors in the top 15 in the league in scoring. Six in rebounding. One in 3pt FG made. Three in assists.

Krutwig, Key, Childs, Prim, Hemphill, and Berhow are the six "big" names who appear in top 10 and 15 rankings in the league. I know Prim said he would come back but I will believe it when I see it. Same with Hemphill.

I doubt Krutwig, Key, Childs and Berhow return. All four of them can make money overseas right away.
