Drake's AD Brian Hardin called into the Drake radio show. I didn't hear it, but from what I was told it sounded like Drake wanted to play, UNI was willing to play short handed, the MVC was willing to let it happen, but St. Louis insisted too many players be pulled for UNI to field a team.

Then the right answer is get in the bus and find a venue to play in. This isn’t a proper tournament.

If Drake loses tomorrow, this embarrassment gets quickly & quietly forgotten as Drake will be out of the NCAA, maybe an NIT team, and "well it didn't matter anyway" will settle in to most fans. If Drake wins Arch Madness, there will be those who put the asterisk by this unless Drake makes a deep run in the NCAA tournament to silence critics.

If things between the MVC & St. Louis were better understood, would it have mattered? Illinois protocols are even stricter as they're only allowing 50 fans per game for the women's tournament. Do you try to move the event to Iowa or Indiana, assuming you can find a venue? The only thing that's a certainty right now is there are 30 other conference commissioners calling emergency planning meetings right now.

Can anyone chime in about the Bradley false positive? What was the difference?

Apparently whoever had the false positive had already had COVID so it goes into a different category. The UNI player hadn't. The team was punished for not having COVID.

It's all just a farce.

Elgin and the Athletic Directors of the conference should have insisted on a fair tournament. Should have told the representatives from St. Louis that if they want it this way, we will pack up now, finish the tournament in our own gyms and we will not return to “the arch.”

This ruins the entire tournament, it’s completely inexcusable and embarrassing.

The Valley is being destroyed on social media. And rightfully so. What an absolute embarrassment for a proud conference and usually great tourney.

I couldn’t agree more. “Science” flew out of the window long ago regarding this “dreaded” virus. The fact that young healthy people are either asymptomatic or have mild symptoms is ignored. The fact that PCR testing amplifies the amount of the virus that MAY be present by a factor as high as 40 times is overlooked. I saw data just yesterday comparing Covid cases with mask and no mask mandated areas, no difference in the two. We are raising a generation of kids who will scared of their own shadows from here on out, and taking from then the irreplaceable days of youth. We cannot even mention herd immunity, which is how EVERY virus has died on the vine, and which was rapidly approaching before the first vaccine dose was administered (Dr. Marty Makary John’s Hopkins). Don’t blame Doug Elgin, blame the same mindset that bans Dr. Seuss, the MVC is the latest victim of The Cancel Culture. Oh, and please, everyone “stay safe”! Thanks China.

Every team should leave town. ADs sit down and figure out where to hold a tournament THIS year.

Christ dude, get a grip. None of this has anything to do with what happened and it's disrespectful to the 530,000 Americans that are dead from this virus.
