You weren't winning this tournament even if you played last night.

Trump far right (this covid thing is fake) people. GTFO and get educated. College is a thing and helps you become more intelligent. Go talk to a covid nurse or doctor versus the Q and Trump told "fake truths"

Either way, this is cbb in a covid world. UNI wasnt winning anything. You barely beat my crappy Birds.

They have every right to get upset though. Don't blame any Northern Iowa fans for getting upset about the MVC changing their rules halfway through the tournament. That being said, it has nothing to do with COVID being fake and no, the MVC should not move their tournament in the future because of this. This whole situation sucks and COVID sucks as a whole, I'm optimistic we're not going to be dealing with this much longer though.

I obviously don’t post a lot here, but would like people’s views on this. Before WSU/CU left I think it would have been a no brainer to give KC a chance, but maybe not now. And I’m not sure there’s a great option, but Indy should get a hard look.

But has St Louis been a great host? I’m not sure how to think about “host” but a few thing I’d point out, and if my math is correct I think I just attended my 28th Arch Madness-

Ballpark Village was a SIGNIFICANT upgrade as it had gotten to the point that the city was really tired, at least in the area where hotels and arena are at.

I’m not sure if outside of NY/Boston/LA there is an arena in the country that has such high prices for food and drink. I recall going to OKC for NCAA games and it stood out how much cheaper food was. If you compare to what Arthur Blank did when he opened Mercedes stadium in ATL with fan friendly pricing (obviously extreme) the STL prices are 3x ATL. A bottle of water at Enterprise is $6.

I’m sure there are a lot of good people that work at arena but I’ve also experienced or witnessed a fair number of employees (ticket takers/ushers) who are “less than friendly”. I’m sure there was 2 sides to the story but they kicked out a UNI fan for not having his mask up Thursday night when he said he was drinking beer. There was no one near him other than his party (really hardly anyone in the entire arena) and there were TWO MINUTES left in the game.

I think the street poles in the few blocks around the arena that have Arch Madness banners are the banners purchased 20 years ago. There isn’t really anything around town that makes it feel like a big event is going on.

Maybe the reality is accepting the state of the Valley and its finances and fan support and this is what we get. The league needs MSU/SIU/BU/ISUr to get back to consistent success and hopefully the fane support they have shown in the past. That can drive more buzz in STL. Even hearing the less than 100 SIU fans Thursday night doing the SIU chant Thursday night reminds me of the days when that would be deafening at the tournament. As a UNI fan it almost felt unfair as it was a damn near road game, but it was also awesome.

St. Louis is literally the perfect location for a neutral site tournament in this conference. Distance-wise, it's as equitable of a location as you could hope to find. Yeah, food and drink prices could be lower but you're going to be spending money wherever you go. If bottled water is $4 in KC or Indy vs $6 in STL, that's not enough to move the dial for me. There's enough going on in STL for restaurant and beer options alone that it's worth spending a little bit extra money for me. If you're spending your entire weekend in a 4 block radius, you're not taking advantage of what STL has to offer.

The reason it doesn't feel like a big event going on is because it isn't. It's a few thousand extra people downtown in a metro area of 3 million. Fan attendance has tapered off with CU and WSU leaving. The STL population as a whole doesn't care about a mid-major conference tournament with schools they only vaguely know about. Sure, you'll get some casual basketball fans from around the area but it's not going to make much of a difference in ticket sales. I doubt you see much local interest either in Indy or KC. That's just the way it is these days with so many other priorities eating up peoples' weekends.

As for the employees at the Enterprise Center, I've been going for years and have had nothing but positive experiences. I am sure the UNI fan who was asked to leave was nothing but polite and agreeable for it to get to a point where he was booted.

I feel for UNI fans that they didn't get to play their final game. That was Bradley last year along with 67 other teams. The miscommunication was unfortunate, but I don't see this incident as a referendum on the site of the tournament or the MVC. It's been a weird and challenging year for everyone.

Yeah, maybe, but the notion that we shouldn’t care so much if a game gets played because we “know” the outcome is ridiculous. I think UNI has been part of providing that wrong both by winning (WSU in the semifinals in what ‘15?) and losing (Drake last year).

Umm, wasn’t it just last year that Valpo made it all the way to the championship game despite playing on Thursday. That’s why you play the game.

I agree I doubt they would have won, but to not have the opportunity to play your last game is pathetic.

Pretty rare for a Valley team to end their season on a win. 2015 Loyola won the CBI, right? 2011 WSU won the NIT. Any others in recent history?
