I suspect Lansing will be upgrading...not the Sycamores.

Lansing is the perfect guy to be on the bench for a young P5 head coach for a year or two. Great Xs & Os guy that show somebody the ropes and probably triple his salary doing it.

To me these coaching decisions and the accompanying back and forth about them is always interesting because of the avoidance of some obvious inconvenient facts. Every athletic department in the Valley operates significantly in the red relying heavily on subsidies to pay the bills. Yet the knee jerk response is always, you need to pay more , which of course means asking for greater amounts of subsidies to do so, meaning taking money away from the primary purpose of a University, education, in order to do so. Of course some can get donors to foot some of those costs, but again, it's always interesting especially for cash strapped universities like ISU.

Another weird thing... INST held a press conference with Lansing and their AD sitting side-by-side. Has to be kind of awkward....

Hey Indiana St fans I'm sure Marry Simmons would love to get back to being a head coach.I believe Lansing did a tremendous job with what he had to work with. And I hope he lands another head coaching job and does well.

Barry Hinson will take that job and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he applied either.

The school of Larry Bird is spending $4.26M on FB and $2.13M on MBB. I would cut that 2:1 ratio and shift $500k from FB to MBB. $2.63M would move ISU from 10th to 8th in MBB budgets. Budget reallocation could bolster MBB finances without tapping into institutional subsidies or student fees.

I like it. I know Barry isn't a great coach but he is a great ambassador for the league. Also, I saw an article recently (maybe on here?) that his position at Oklahoma State was eliminated due to COVDI budget issues. He's been working for free for quite some time.
