Good for the Dawgs! DeVires has done a great job so far.

I’m always curious of the terms- primarily what if another school wants to take him away. On the flip side, what if he has three (looking like 4) miserable seasons in a row?

Sorry- coming from the jaded Redbird fan who would now have to pay its coach 1.5 million to walk into the sunset.

These long contract extensions are rarely good for a University. AD's continue to give the coaches ALL of the leverage. If he wants to leave - he will. If things go south, you owe him a ton of money.

^^^This..... I hope for the best for Drake, but man, 2 million to pay a guy to NOT be your coach is a tough pill at this level.

How could anybody complain about this extension? Devries is the second good coach we have had in the last 13 years and the other one left after one season. I have seen enough of Devries to be convinced he is not suddenly going to become a terrible coach. If he does, I'll live with it. I can't imagine anybody in the valley wouldn't take him right now except for Loyola.
