If not at the Arch... Where?

On the Loyola-->A10 thread the discussion has turned to the Conf tournament not in St. Louis. Which I think would be great.

Possibilities...Let's see...
- MVC Champs host - home court advantage for leading MVC.
- Highest NET as of Jan 31 Hosts (gives a couple months to prep and gives advantage to NET)
- #7 (top Thursday team hosts) - this rotates host without giving advantage to any of the most likely schools to win.
- Rotate (fair, but #2 might get lucky and have home court advantage over #1)
- Rotate but avoid schools in states or municipalities that have over-aggressive COVID restrictions.
- Hold it every year at the Peoria Civic Center Carver Arena or Redbird Arena (seat 12,000 and 10,500) - choose whichever is lower in preseason poll unless both are the top 4, then [something else]...

(Sorry this map has Milwaukee and Murray State on it - not sure why...

Anything that isn't a neutral, centrally located site is unacceptable.

Valparaiso’s High School gymnasium might be a problem.

St. Louis is much better than any of these.

Champaign, Illinois!!! It is way closer in distance for 5 schools: Loyola, Valpo, INST, ILST, and Bradley. It is roughly the same distance for 3 schools: UNI, DU, and UE. It is roughly an hour and a half farther for SIU and 3 hours farther for MSU.

The fact that Champaign is way closer to 5 schools, in a nicer metro, and only adds slight travel for 2 schools makes me think it would be well worth the move. I think it would also draw more fans since it is so easy to get to for everyone.

This is a really, really dumb thread.

Arch Madness is the best thing the Valley has going for it.

:+1:

A neutral site tourney within reasonable driving distance with a ton to do outside of the arena. What more could you want?

People just like talking about these things. Agreed though - the tournament in STL is among the best in the country. It really is.

Phoenix is amazing. I want them to do some random nice weather city some year. Like Honolulu. Phoenix and Miami would do.
