They open at Cinn, have UCF coming to Evansville and play at SMU (return game).

Belmont and other regional games pretty much fill it out

Do they have a connection in the AAC office? They seem to get some pretty good games with AAC teams.

Not sure about a connection as UE is very closed mouth about everything concerning the program. If they continue to get AAC games there might be something to it.

They travel to ------ Stanford and Western Michigan

BAHA MAR Hoops Tourney vs Coastal Carolina

Missouri State announced their noncon and as we were expecting due to the obvious difficulty they were having putting it together, it's a mixed bag at best. What hurt the most was the lack of any P-5 opportunities in their MTE . It has a few bright spots, but alot of meh .

SEMO
Alabama St
@ Sam Houston St
Long Beach St [Naples MTE}
Murray St/East Tenn. St [ Naples MTE]
Probable Kent or Wright St,or James Madison [Naples MTE}
BYU
@ UALR
ORU
South Dakota St
Central Arkansas
@ St Marys { California]
Evangel

So 1 non D-1 in Evangel [ which was scheduled to fill gap between Christmas break and start of MVC ,so I can live with that]
BYU at home is a really good get, and @ St Mary's is a quality roadie. South Dakota St and ORU both at home are decent regional games. SEMO is the longest standing in state rivalry game , so kinda ok to see them return to the schedule. The Naple's MTE has some potential decent mid major games with Murray St/EastTenn St/Kent/ Wright St/James Madison.

But overall no P-5 games in the MTE leaves us with very limited opportunity for the kind of wins necessary for an at large resume.

That's a really good analysis, and don't beat yourself up on the non-DI it's just a reality at our level to get home games.

I agree that you have to be, probably, 12-1 at worst to look at an at-large but it's certainly doable.

BYU should be a tourney team and St. Mary's will be a bubble team. Go 1-1, sweep SDSU and ORU (who should both be favorites to win their respective conferences), and win your MTE (ideally vs Wright State who will be Horizon favorite). That gives you a few quality wins and could put you in the at-large conversation. A win vs a team like BYU or St. Mary's might be better than beating up on some bottom feeder P5 school when it comes to Selection Sunday as those teams will likely be in the conversation--always good to hang your hat on a h2h win.

Yeah like I said, there are some positives in the schedule, but as a MM you usually have to get your best opportunities for major wins in your MTE, and ours simply falls short. It's not terrible, it's just not what we needed this year. We have a chance as I look at this schedule but the margin for error is extremely slim; it's probably better than the Drake noncon last year, but I'm reminded they had to start something like 18-0 to hang on for the at large bid they got. :Bam:

Redbirds announce their noncon and are hoping to add one more game to get to the max 13. Pretty bland schedule overall, but there are some winnable games for a team that will desperately need to gain confidence

Nov. 9 vs. UNC-Wilmington
Nov 12 @ Eastern Michigan
Nov. 16 vs Murray State
Nov. 20 vs. Bucknell (Part of MTE)
Nov. 23 vs. Saint Louis (@ Cancun)
Nov. 24 vs. Buffalo or Stephen F. Austin (@ Cancun)
Nov. 27 vs. Non-D1 (Purdue-Northwest)
Dec 4 vs Jackson State
Dec 11 @Chicago State
Dec. 18 vs. Ball State
Dec. 21 UTSA (return game from 2019-2020)
Dec 29 @ Wisconsin

I keep expecting the Redbirds to be better than they have been the last 3 years or so, but it's hard to project them out of Thursday night going into this year. Yet I still won't be surprised if CDM rediscovers what worked before as it always seems the RB's have ample #s of athletes and look the part of a better team than they've been. But in this league you gotta show up effort wise, defend, and take care of the ball every night because of the parity , or else you lose a lot of close games.
