MTSU has been on our schedule for sometime now.

And it’s not like we “got” Western. Their last 3 head coaches prior to $tan$bury all dropped the series after they lost to us at home, so when Stan$bury called to renew it once again we basically ignored him. So, their AD gets on Twitter and tried to embarrass us into renewing in 2016. We ignored that for 5 years but something obviously changed, probably our newer AD.

Having a hard time buying the market thing also. We have our own media outlet in Paducah that is strictly just Murray State. Not a huge station, but covers a large area. Same with the Paducah Sun that has us featured and not just a small blurb behind the SEC, Vanderbilt, Titans, Predators etc. stories.

My days at Murray I made a ton of friends from the St Louis area. Being right smack in the middle of Nashville and St Louis, and Memphis if you want to make it a triangle, has been beneficial to us in academic recruiting.

But also, every day there is silence I’m starting to believe we are being left at the altar again. Just the fact that there aren’t even any whispers around town makes me uneasy. If we don’t move now I’m afraid we never will.

It may be a large area but people determine market size, not cows. Your market being adjacent to other bigger markets isn't much relevant. I support Murray State's invitation because on the whole the positives outweigh the negatives but let's be honest about Paducah.

The Southland may be able to park Murray football for a few years. In a perfect world, they'd enter the MVFC in 2026.

All I know is that I'm thankful every day that we got in 30 years ago because we wouldn't even be considered today.

You mean the part about it being the 88th largest market in the country in 2019, ahead of or very close to some current MVC markets in the process? Just wanting to be clear.

Perhaps you’d rather talk about Carbondale, which is not much to brag about either if we’re being honest with each other.

You mean like how Valpo is adjacent to Gary, Indiana? Valparaiso is hardly anything special either. I've been to Paducah and it's around the same size as Peoria.

Except SIU and UNI aren't trying to get into the league in 2021. Impossible to compare characteristics that got schools into the league in the 70s and 90s to today.

Matt Brown tweeted the league seriously considered a school in Boston as well as Arlington when Belmont was added. Geography doesn't matter anymore.

Did he say what school in Boston? Northeastern is the only one I can think of that would make any sense at all

I could see Harvard wanting to jump ship from the Ivy, the way they have been emphasizing athletics in recent years.
