Belmont is the 11th. Who should be the 12th?

Postby mvfcfan » October 16th, 2021, 9:20 am

As requested by VUGrad, here's a new updated poll. I'd be curious to see what the results are now that Belmont has been added. Should we just stay at 11? Add Murray State? Go for a market? Let's see what the message board crowd says!

I could only add 10 options. I put the most likely options, or options mentioned often by posters and newspaper articles. If you like Denver, Omaha, Detroit, or some other school you can vote for them with the "Other, please specify" option.

*Things do change over time, so I set the poll up so that users can change their vote.

I voted for Murray State and it's not even close. My very distant second and third choices would be NKU and UWM in that order. I also oppose expanding beyond 12.

Thanks How did you do the poll? I wish I could have been able to myself.

Anyway as for the poll itself there is really only one answer here. They were my vote (along with Belmont) in 2018 and I'm not changing it now.

When you start a thread, you have to scroll to the very bottom and there is a poll creation option down there.

This is the wrong poll. 98% of us want probably want Murray. The poll should be "If the MVC expands to 14 who should be the 13th and 14th teams?" For the NEXT round of expansion. This one is pretty much done from the MVC perspective. Just waiting on Murray football, I imagine.

I really don't want to be a downer, but do we really need yet another poll on this? There are currently 3 threads, with a total of 179 pages currently dealing with this. I am positive if you just read 1 of any of those 179 pages, you would clearly understand that at least 90% of us favor Murray as the next expansion candidate.

I agree. Literally fans from all schools, including most from SIU, are for this. No amount of crying on this board about Murray will change the minds of the presidents who get to make these decisions. Quite frankly, the desperation shown from a few fans on here get exhausting. Our league would probably benefit from having Murray, but we don't NEED them all that bad. Not nearly as much as they need the MVC.

Obviously Murray State. If the Valley then went to 14, the best private candidate is Detroit, and the best public is probably Northern Kentucky.

Murray State is by far my number one then Northern Kentucky is my number two. Past that there is no other team I like enough.

The best private candidates are Oral Roberts and (if they can build on their success and invest more) Bellarmine and St Thomas but those are years out from being relevant choices Detroit has not shown much investment or institutional commitment that I can see and they are lacking in fan support They have tradition and potential if they got behind their program again but I consider them a hard pass right now Really every private candidate mentioned here now that Belmont is in us very much a wait and see for the MVC If we expand again beyond hopefully 12 we might be looking at non football publics or some unforeseen home run private school becomes available somehow

You're better off taking Murray State off the poll and asking who the 2nd option would be
