They don't want to be a lame duck in a league they don't want to be in, and the resentment that will come from the league office and member schools. If the Racers are indeed being offered a bid to the SoCon ( which I am not convinced they are) but need a 10 year commitment is a no-brainer of a choice.

The SoCon offer is football only, not all sports.

I understand that.

This is not good at all for AAC basketball. So many of those programs are bad bad bad. I would expect Wichita State to start looking around if the rumored adds (Florida Atlantic North Texas Rice Texas-San Antonio Charlotte and UAB) are true. The only halfway decent basketball adds are North Texas UAB and (possibly) Charlotte. FAU Rice and UTSA are absolute dead weight.

CUSA will have plenty of openings. If MO State were to ever get the chance to go FBS, this would be it. I can't say that their basketball is overly impressive though, especially without a couple of those that are leaving.

I won’t pretend to know all the factors for the Bears, but man it is funny to think about “the need for a travel partner” in the MVC then look at the map of remaining members of CUSA.

I will say this, though, any school that knowingly jumps into CUSA at this point will get what they deserve. That is a dumpster fire. But if football is your sport and CUSA is your path forward , vaya con dios…

Last 4 years:
Charlotte - Kenpom 234, 164, 297, 308
UAB - Kenpom 102, 189, 147, 196
North Texas - Kenpom 72, 77, 158, 146
Rice - Kenpom 188, 199, 248, 155
FAU - Kenpom 181, 191, 162, 233
UTSA - Kenpom 160, 210, 174, 149

AAC adds bad basketball schools for their mediocre football programs and you have to think Memphis is furiously making calls.

MVC adds Belmont, Murray State.
AAC adds North Texas, FAU, UTSA, UAB, Rice, Charlotte

Who do you think had the better month?

According to reports, Memphis, Navy, and SMU’s ADs spearheaded this expansion.

Well I'm sure Wichita didn't spearhead it.

I'd have to imagine Memphis and SMU are frantically trying to get a hold of the Mountain West at this point.

They may have spearheaded the move to get these other schools but that was simply so CUSA didn't end up on the same level.
