Bowen Born was back yesterday, and yes it was a D3, but the spacing and movement offensively was strikingly better.

I'm not ready to write this season off yet though it's going to take beating Arkansas or St Bonaventure to get back into the at large mix.

UNI's at large died after the 2nd home loss to Vermont. Theyre done. Drake will have to carry the valley flag this year

Total hypothetical here--

UNI splits Arkansas and St Bonaventure, wins out of the non-con (which would include Richmond, @ Marshall, Liberty, Stanford and BYU) and goes 14-4 in the Valley with losses to the other Top 4s and gets 2 in StL. Plus, those two home losses would be without a starter and probably 3rd leading scorer.

That puts them 24-8 against DI with a great NET and SOS numbers on Selection Sunday.

They're absolutely an at large at that point.

Again, total hypothetical and not very likely if they don't figure it out immediately but not out of the question.

24-8 with those awful losses don't put them close to the conversation.

If their NET ends up top 60 or especially top 50, they are in the conversation. Plain and simple. Granted, that isn't easy with such a bad start, but not impossible. Drake and Loyola both should provide Q1 opportunities for their schedule as well. It would help greatly if UNI could win a few of these games by 30+ points to pad their NET.

Time will tell: we don't know just how "bad" those two losses were jus like we don't truly know how "good" potential wins against Bonny and Arkansas could be until we at least get somewhere into conference play so that NET and RPI (I realize it's not used, but still a decent indicator) can solidify a bit.

Agree on the previous post that UNI can still nab an at-large if their NET lands somewhere in the 50-60 range; it would have helped to win these two, but we won't know for a while - heck, with how the Valley has started off there may not be many quality wins available outside of Loyola, Drake, and MSU.

Is anyone watching Belmont/Furman? Belmont's arena is electric tonight. I don't buy the "Belmont has no fans" narrative. They'll be great additions.

I watched the last part of that game. The arena was somewhat loud with the people making a lot of noise, but the crowd still looked pretty empty.

Belmont is pretty dang good. And the fans that do show are pretty loud. There just aren’t many who show.

This is not a consideration for teams outside the P6. The committee doesn't look at who was out during losses for mid-major bubble teams. They look at overall record, and the number of games they had against Q1 opponents. Its why a 24-8 MVC team will never get in over a 17-15 Big 10 school. Going 0-10 against Q1 will always be seen better than going 0-1.
