Why would you say that?

I obviously can't speak for the Drake administration, but I've yet to meet a Drake fan who's in favor of UMKC.

Recruiting, geography, alumni relations, and academics for the Drake administration. Kansas City is an important market for Drake. I know Missouri State is the one everyone thinks of losing all of its close neighbors - Drake did as well.

Do you mean the Missouri State University President and other decision makers or fan boys?

UNI left the old NCC specifically because of them thinking that they should get two votes on every league issue because they are the only 'flagship' university in the league. Not much has changed and there's no people there.

What a bunch of garbage. NDSU has always been a solids conference mate in both the NCC and Summit league.
Just because you have some personal butt-hurt for losing one too many games to ndsu is no reason to make up a bunch of BS. NDSU has had a lot of FB and MBB success in recent years, so there are a few insufferable fans On message boards, but that’s not ndsu. Sorry you got your feelings hurt on a message board, but NDSU is not a bad conference mate, simply not true.

NDSU is a blue collar, hard nosed athletic department, and will do what it takes to compete and win. And the fan base is plenty strong throughout Nd and western Mn, compared to UNI’s small slice of the IA pie. What in the hell are you talking about.

Clearly UNI and Drake are sold on the weak link in the Summit, KC. Hey, go for it, but Valpo was a better idea than that. NDSU a toxic athletic department? simply not true, there is no evidence of that. Hell, even Und crawled back to the summit to join NDSU.

On the contrary, look what NDSU has done for the MVFC and Summit. A rising tide lifts all ships.

I accidently reported this post (meant to hit quote). Didn't mean to.

NDSU would be a good add. The only good reason for adding UMKC back to the Summit was for location (I-29 corridor) and for numbers. Why anyone would want UMKC in the MVC is just insane. Don't understand UTA at all either. If you want to travel a lot the XDSU's make way more sense. You can do travel partners and just play them both in one trip, rather than traveling to Texas and only getting one game out of it.

Agree 100% with everything Herd said here.

NDSU is a plane ride in all sports from all schools. UMKC is a bus ride for at least a handful of schools. That's important for non-revenue sports.

Would NDSU be better than KC in basketball if they joined the MVC next year? Yes. 5 years from now? Who knows.

Do they have annoying fans? Think Wichita State fans without the basketball success to back it up.

If we were going to go with a single Dakota school, SDSU makes a lot more sense geographically and competitively. Personally, I'd be okay with Murray, Arlington, Kansas City, and South Dakota St. Two regional schools with competitive programs, and two market-based schools.

Yes.

I don't want to add any Dakota school, but if UMKC was such a great add for any reason they would have already been added. If they could increase the quality of their athletic programs significantly they would have already done so. UMKC is a small fish in a "large" pond and NDSU is a "large" fish in a small pond.

I think you're kind of missing the point. I don't take this as a KC vs. NDSU thing... Apples and oranges. Either you want KC for it's market or you don't. Valid arguments on both sides.

But if you want to add NDSU, why not SDSU instead. Better basketball. Closer. Both small market teams. If you want both? I guess maybe... But I think you either go with a Dakota package or Belmont/Murray, and not both.

I don't want either of them. I mentioned those schools because you mentioned them by name.

I think Murray State and NKU would be better additions than NDSU and SDSU if we were to add two more public schools.

So UTA to deliver the DFW market, and Umkc to deliver the KC market. Where are you going next, Saskatchewan to deliver the Canadian market? You MVC guys, just do you.
