Go Panthers!

UNI will look back on those early season losses with regret and disgust. Panthers are a very good squad. The "Big Four" in the MVC will be extremely competitive.

No Born. No Henry.

Really sucks that the big guys get the benefit of the doubt on that.

Two non-starters, neither of whom played very well today? I get their importance but not like we are talking about Green or Phyfe. UNI shoulda beat Nicholls and Vermont with ease.

They'll be fine though. Very good squad.

Southern has the pieces and the talent to compete for the top 3 this year, but so far the mental toughness and consistency factors have been missing.

Agree with your assessment. Sign of a good coach and team is steady improvement throughout a season, playing your best basketball at the end of said season. I am hopeful that will happen. Time will tell.

Bad loss by Drake, swept out of their MTE. Man, this has been a disappointing non-conference season for the top squads.

All 3 games were the same

Drake falls behind by 10+ in first half

Drake takes a 3-4 point lead late in second half

Drake loses close game

A couple of the starters have actually regressed since last season, and DD benched both of them for the last 12-15 minutes of today's game.

A poorly coached team as you put it on Saluki Insider, came back from 17 to win. After losing to Creighton on a last second shot, travel home, spend a holiday away from home, this type of game was expected. Stop complaining about the loss to ARLR, the past, and this team in general. Some people have short term memory loss, and forget about the joke SIU had for 7 years prior. Beat a Power 5 team in year 3 of Mullins regime. Hinson couldn't do it in 7.
Go Dawgs, beat Evansville

Yeah, Mullins can’t coach like Betty Crocker can’t cook. And gosh, I think it was about week ago that Mullins and The Dawgs beat Colorado. Or did I dream that?

BTW: your bipolar description of that particular site is spot on. I'm sure Mullins reads it, and takes notes daily.

The SIU board, like most other boards, is an extremely emotional one. One recent example is our football team. We went from being #3 in the nation, with everyone thinking Nick Hill is THE GUY. We have a meltdown to finish the season. All of a sudden Nick Hill's play calling is awful and costing us games. Then we look good in the playoffs to get to the sweet 16 right now. Everyone is happy again. I see this...we went 10+ years with no playoffs. Now have been in 2 straight Sweet 16s (or better).

Our basketball is no different. Things just aren't going as smoothly as we expected. But this is college basketball isn't it? Chaos is what it is all about, and SIU isn't immune to it either. Mullins will be fine.

I think the Nick Hill stuff is overblown considering what a godsend he's been to the football program but the team also collapsed with a ton of talent, they shouldn't have had to play on Saturday or they should have at least had an easier path going forward than playing ND State this week. They were really lucky to make the playoffs, they were the last team in and pretty much every bubble team lost last week.

In terms of basketball, this has to be a turning point season for them. They have an experienced team and while they might not have enough to win the Valley or make even an NIT, this is the season to lay the groundwork for next season where they should be picked top 3 and should be thinking postseason basketball. So far they haven't played well at all and I have no confidence going forward that they're going to even be good this year. Yeah, they beat Colorado and fought Creighton but Creighton nearly lost to SIUe yesterday. It's not the same Creighton & Colorado as year's past. Doesn't take away from the fact that the Colorado win was a big win for the program but it doesn't make up for playing like crap against bad teams like Austin Peay (for a half), Little Rock, and Alcorn State. I don't have much confidence they're going to beat Evansville on Wednesday, I hope they prove me wrong.

I've watched Evansville play this year. It is painful. I've watched Licklitter make excuse after excuse for not playing players and for the team's poor performance this year. I do not have much confidence that UE will stay within 10 of SIU at The Ford Center.

SIU is really banged up right now. Trent Brown has been out all season with a back injury, doubt he plays Wednesday. Ben Harvey is dealing with an enlarged spleen, might be out for the year. Dalton Banks broke his nose at practice and was playing with a mask and seemed to get hit on Friday. Lance Jones has been dealing with an ankle sprain and it looked like he was carried off the floor on Friday. And Lickliter's teams have played SIU well the last 2 years. I was at the Ford Center 2 years ago when the winless Aces took SIU to OT and really should have won.
