You should team up with the Missouri St fan and the Indiana St fan who think FCS football is worth something.

It’s high time the Valley stop riding the coattails of Sycamore football!

You will probably get one of those around seasons end... I do have a question though. What model are you looking to follow in your quest to be in CUSA and what is considered a success in that move?

The MVFC rated just behind CUSA football this year, and with UTSA and other departures the MVFC should jump them.

http://sagarin.com/sports/cfsend.htm

You’re looking at flights for all sports to LA Tech, FIU, UTEP, Jax State, Sam Houston State, Liberty…

CUSA media rights are less than $500K per school and that will probably be going down with departures. ESPN and ESPN2 appearances are more rare than the MAC.

The Valley doesn’t have a great record of at large bids and NCAA shares but it’s far better than CUSA which hasn’t sniffed an at large since Memphis left.

If the ISU AD moves them to CUSA he should be admitted to a psych ward.

MVFC is never going FBS. CUSA may very well be a worse conference but the jump needs to be made for long term. Football keeps growing in America. Basketball across the board is having trouble with attendance. The reigning NCAA champions new arena will only be 7-7.5k seats because they cant sell out a 10.5k arena. The MAC isn't taking FCS schools so the only option is wait or go CUSA. They're going to wait (we'll, probably never will move) but I think the next round will be huge, and too late.

Football outside of the blue bloods is hemorrhaging attendance as well. Started before the pandemic and it's only going to get worse. Also, looking at the raw number of seats that Texas and Baylor have built is so incredibly misleading. Those buildings are full of smaller suites, event spaces and premium amenities. The days of people going to games to see the game are dying. You have to have a premium experience and these schools and several others are way ahead of the curve on that.

Moving to be FBS in name only while sacrificing all of your other programs to worse leagues for no money and more expenses would be a colossal, fireable mistake.

“Pandemic or not, college football attendance — as well as many other collegiate and pro sports — has witnessed steady decreases over the last decade. Since reaching an all-time high in 2008 at 46,971 average fans, home FBS attendance has now dipped below the 40-thousand mark.“

As mentioned the biggest schools are building huge luxury suites to make up for loss of total fan attendance. That would take some more Redbird Stadium renovations, and some big commitments before construction starts.
